The Ottawa County Central Dispatch Authority was established in 1989 to build a Central Dispatch system and implement enhanced 9-1-1. Ottawa Central Dispatch began operation in March 1991. Central Dispatch handles all requests for Public Safety service in Ottawa County. Central Dispatch also provides radio communication services for all public safety agencies in Ottawa County. Central Dispatch receives requests for and handles dispatch of all police, fire, and medical emergencies in Ottawa County and the entire City of Holland. Ottawa County Central Dispatch is one of the largest multi-jurisdictional dispatch centers in the State of Michigan. Our primary means of communication with the public is our Enhanced 9-1-1 system. This system helps us locate callers in an emergency by providing a name, address, and phone number. Ottawa 9-1-1 is capable of receiving both Phase l and Phase ll cellular 9-1-1 calls. Non-emergency calls are facilitated through our toll free number (1-800-249-0911), and administrative lines for public and private use. The other primary means of communication is our radio and computer systems. All Ottawa County police, fire and ambulance services communicate with Central Dispatch via this radio system. Central Dispatch currently has one of the most up to date mobile date systems in the State of Michigan. This system features drivers license photos, jail mugshots, and officer access to a multitude of other databases.

PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT: Phone Scam Impersonating Law Enforcement ⚠️

Residents are advised of an ongoing phone scam involving individuals falsely claiming to be members of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Scammers are using spoofed phone numbers, including 616-738-4000, to appear as though the call is coming from the Sheriff’s Office. The caller may claim that you have missed a court date or that a warrant has been issued for your arrest. They will then instruct you to make an immediate payment using gift cards, Bitcoin, or by withdrawing money from your bank account.

These claims are fraudulent. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office will never request payment in this manner.

If you receive one of these calls:

Hang up immediately.
Do not provide any personal or financial information.
Do not send money or purchase gift cards.
Contact Ottawa County Dispatch directly at 1-800-249-0911 to verify any claims.

Please share this alert with friends and family to help prevent others from becoming victims.

Storm cleanup is still underway across the county, and many traffic signals remain without power.

As our emergency crews, road commission, and utility teams work to restore safe conditions, you can help keep everyone safe by following the rules of the road.

🚨 If a traffic signal is out, treat it as a FOUR-WAY STOP.
• Come to a complete stop
• Watch for cross traffic
• Take turns and proceed safely (don't assume cross traffic knows there is a stop light there)

Please keep an eye out for fallen trees and downed power lines.

A little patience goes a long way in keeping our community safe. Please slow down, stay alert, and drive responsibly.
