PennDOT's Westmoreland County Maintenance Update
Week of April 27, 2026

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of April 27. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.

Drivers can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Base repair:
• Route 136 (Main Street) in West Newton Borough
• Route 51 in Rostraver Township

Crews will pick litter, replace downed signs, and update existing signs, as well as address work orders on various state routes throughout the county.

Just a friendly reminder that items such as fences, sheds, additions, and even swimming pools require a building permit before installation.

Obtaining a permit helps ensure everything is safe and up to code.

The Borough of West Newton, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania is accepting proposals for a one-time contract to perform certain professional services work in Goehring Park for tree pruning, tree removal, and tree planting. Information can be requested via email: [email protected], outlining requirements for proposal submission, evaluation criteria and the proposed contract.

One sealed proposal must be received no later than April 17th, 2026. The proposal should be addressed to: West Newton Borough, Attn: Ashley Pergola, 112 South Water Street, West Newton, PA 15089. If additional information is needed, please contact West Newton Borough Secretary, at 724-872-6860.
