🚨 PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE – NO DRONE ZONES 🚨

As America250 celebrations take place across the region, the West New York Police Department reminds residents and visitors that many event locations will be designated as NO DRONE ZONES by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Flying a drone near these events is illegal and dangerous and poses a serious risk to public safety, emergency operations, and airspace security.

Violators may face:
• Fines exceeding $100,000
• Criminal charges
• Possible incarceration
• Confiscation of their drone

Leave your drone at home and help keep these historic celebrations safe for everyone.

See a drone operating illegally?
Call 911 immediately
Notify on-site law enforcement
Report suspicious activity to the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI

The West New York Police Department, in coordination with our federal, state, and local partners, will be actively monitoring for unauthorized drone activity and enforcing all applicable laws.

NO DRONES. NO EXCEPTIONS.
🇺🇸 Let’s celebrate America250 safely and responsibly.

⚽️ FIFA WORLD CUP 2026 – PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT ⚽️

As the FIFA World Cup approaches, the West New York Police Department would like to remind residents and visitors to celebrate responsibly.

If your team wins, please do not block streets, intersections, or sidewalks. Pedestrians must be able to walk safely, and emergency vehicles and traffic must be able to move freely throughout town. We understand the excitement and pride that comes with supporting your country, but public safety remains our top priority. Please celebrate responsibly, do not antagonize rival teams, and remember that we will have an increased police presence at locations where large crowds have historically gathered. We are aware of which matches are likely to draw significant celebrations and will be monitoring those areas accordingly.

While we encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly, residents and visitors are reminded to comply with all New Jersey Title 39 Motor Vehicle regulations. Celebrations may include vehicle caravans, flag displays, and the use of vehicle horns; however, motorists must obey all traffic laws and avoid blocking roadways, intersections, crosswalks, or sidewalks to ensure public safety.

The FIFA World Cup will take place from June 11 through July 19, 2026, with the Final being held at New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford. With eight matches scheduled at the venue, we anticipate increased tourism and traffic throughout our area, particularly along major roadways and commercial corridors, including Bergenline Avenue.

The West New York Police Department will be focused on maintaining traffic flow and public safety throughout the tournament. We ask everyone to treat visitors and fellow fans with respect, celebrate responsibly, and remember not to drink and drive. If you observe suspicious activity, please contact the police immediately. Businesses serving alcohol are reminded to comply with all ABC regulations, as compliance checks will be conducted throughout the event.

We look forward to welcoming visitors from around the world and hope everyone enjoys a safe and memorable FIFA World Cup.

Today, members of the West New York Police Department had the opportunity to participate in the annual George Washington Bridge (GWB) Climb, hosted by the Port Authority Police Department.

Lieutenant Henriquez and Sergeant Chris Ramos proudly represented WNYPD as they joined law enforcement personnel from agencies throughout New York and New Jersey for this unique event.

The climb provided an opportunity to strengthen regional partnerships, promote teamwork, and foster camaraderie among the many agencies that work together to keep our communities safe.

We thank the Port Authority Police Department for the invitation and for hosting another successful event.

At the West New York Police Department, we believe community connection comes in many forms including a little lunchtime fun.

Recently, during a break in the day, our members were “quizzed” on the lyrics of the classic 2001 track “Oochie Wally.” Believe it or not, we now have officers on the job who were born after this song was released. Time moves fast.

As you can imagine, the results were mixed our more experienced members may have an idea of the lyrics, while some of our younger officers… let’s just say they were hearing it for the first time.

This was all done in good spirit while officers were on lunch break and still actively working to serve the community throughout their shift. Moments like this give the public a chance to see a lighter, more human side of policing. Professionalism on the street always remains our priority, but we also value building positive relationships through humor and everyday interaction.

We appreciate our community for supporting us, and we hope this small moment brings a smile no matter what generation you’re from.
