Today, Mayor Albio Sires and the Board of Commissioners hosted West New York’s annual September 11th Remembrance Ceremony at Donnelly Park, bringing our community together to pause, reflect, and remember.
 
Twenty-five years later, we still remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001. We remember the families who were forever changed, the survivors, and the countless first responders, military members, volunteers, and everyday heroes who showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable tragedy.
 
Today’s ceremony was more than a remembrance — it was a reminder of the strength that comes from standing together as a community. While time has passed, the memories remain, and so does our commitment to honoring those we lost and the heroes who gave so much.
 
From generation to generation, West New York will continue to remember, honor, and never forget.
 
We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
 
Hoy, el Alcalde Albio Sires y la Junta de Comisionados organizaron la ceremonia anual de conmemoración del 11 de Septiembre de West New York en Donnelly Park, reuniendo a nuestra comunidad para hacer una pausa, reflexionar y recordar.
 
Veinticinco años después, seguimos recordando a las casi 3,000 personas inocentes que perdieron la vida el 11 de septiembre de 2001. Recordamos a las familias cuyas vidas cambiaron para siempre, a los sobrevivientes y a los innumerables socorristas, miembros de las fuerzas armadas, voluntarios y héroes de nuestra comunidad que demostraron un valor extraordinario ante una tragedia inimaginable.
 
La ceremonia de hoy fue más que un acto de conmemoración; fue un recordatorio de la fortaleza que nace cuando permanecemos unidos como comunidad. Aunque han pasado los años, los recuerdos permanecen, al igual que nuestro compromiso de honrar a quienes perdimos y a los héroes que dieron tanto.
 
De generación en generación, West New York continuará recordando, honrando y nunca olvidando.

As we come upon the 25th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, we extend our love and support to survivors, families of those who lost their lives, and heroes of that fateful day. We remember their bravery and sacrifices.

What a night!

On Sunday, August 30th, the West New York Cultural Center came alive for “David Oquendo, from West New York to Broadway and Back!”

Presented by Mayor Albio Sires and the Board of Commissioners, in collaboration with West New York Arts, Grammy and Tony Award winner David Oquendo delivered an unforgettable performance alongside Mauricio Herrera, Chacho Schartz, and special guests Renecito Avich, Leonardo Reyna, Arthur Luis Alvarez, and Jose “Candelita” Iglesias.

Thank you to everyone who filled the room, sang along, and made the night so special! ❤️

El domingo 30 de agosto, el Centro Cultural de West New York vibró con “David Oquendo: ¡de West New York a Broadway y de vuelta!”

Presentado por el alcalde Albio Sires y la Junta de Comisionados, en colaboración con West New York Arts, el ganador de premios Grammy y Tony, David Oquendo, ofreció una noche inolvidable junto a Mauricio Herrera, Chacho Schartz y artistas invitados especiales.
