Hidden Lake & Nashville West Veterans Rest

Hidden Lake & Nashville West Veterans Rest Hidden Lake was an 1850s RR quarry which became a swim resort in 1930. He said:" I swam there as a boy..." We need a State Inn & visitor center!

It closed w/WWII in 1941 & reopened as a TN State Park in 1980 with our State Senator Douglas Henry's help.

We need a camera at Hidden lake to view the wildlife & other visitors...Maybe it should be under our Veterans or Military Department with the Cemetery....๐Ÿ˜Ÿ

when will we ever get an Inn & facilities for our Hidden Lake "Veterans State Park"? Thanks to our Senator Douglas Henry who "did all that he could.." to help preserve our Park. He said that: "I swam there as a boy..." We could name it for him or include Bill Wade who was a lifeguard until "..the War broke out & we, all, got the call..." It does fit as a "Great American" memory, a term used by friend Dale Young who worked in Governor Dunn's Office along with Joe Hopper & Bill Russell, ALL Great Americans who worked for "Better Tennessee Government๐Ÿ™

It is a good time to combine Hidden Lake State Park & the Newsom Quarries to form "Discovery Park" between I-40 & US 70 along McCrory Lane or is it Quarry Lane where much of the stone for the Nashville buildings were quarried along the Harpeth (Hare Path) River? State Senator Douglas Henry was a moving force to locate our Middle Tennessee Veterans Rest because he "...swam there as a boy..." until WW2 broke out & he was called for service... Bill Wade was a lifeguard in the 1930s & lived nearby... The local train sometimes stopped to let visitors off between stops at Newsom Station & Pegram Station...

We should have a camera on site & the State should turn the management over to our Veterans. The Park site was a swim area "..until WW2 broke out & we all got called up..." Bill Wade was lifeguard there-he & others made that comment. Too bad that such a historical place has not been made a managed site to go with our Middle Tennessee Veterans Place. Thanks, Senator Doug Henry! You said that you swam there as a boy and you did do everything you could to save the place!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ˜ข

Visit your Veteran at Rest along I-40, McCrory Lane & Harpeth River... Take a walk on the Park Side to the Overlook... Most have forgotten or are forgotten who knew of Hidden Lake State Park. Our State Park People need to add improvements to this special place for All & especially those who come to visit their Veteran. It would be our most convenient State Park. Just off I-40 at McCrory Lane & US 70. Along the Harpeth River & CSX Railroad with another large Quarry/Park site adjacent....

One Nation of dedicated People committed to Life, Liberty & Service....

Our Hidden Lake visitor center is waiting to be built...The quarry was opened over 150 years ago & the recreation use began before 1930...Some have been laid to rest adjacent while others await that which we worked for while the Harpeth River flows on lazily to the sea with our Sentries nearby ...

Hidden Lake is a Tennessee State Park adjacent to the Harpeth River, Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery , along McCrory Lane & U.S. Highway 70 & the Harpeth River. It was a Private Resort from 1920 to 1940. There is no facility at this time but Plans have been suggested. Tennessee State Senator Douglas Henry "swam there as a boy..." & was a force to make it into a State Park over the objections of some who wanted to fill it with trash & pollute our water supply. Vanderbilt & Pro Footballer Bill Wade served as a Lifeguard...Senator Henry said that it closed: " ...when the War broke out & we all got called up!" I lobbied with State Naturalist Mack Pritchard, Conservationist William Henry "Bill" Russell & others to make this a State Park Place...
We have more to do to make this a Tennessee jewel, The most valuable Pearl along the Harpeth, "Path of the Hare"...Art Asbury
