Earlier this week marked the opening day of the 3rd Annual West Monroe Police Department Youth Summer Camp, and Ouachita Parish 911 was honored to welcome the attendees for an afternoon of learning and exploration.

During their visit, they received a behind the scenes look at how the 911 system operates in Ouachita Parish, including what happens when a call for help is placed, how Emergency Call Specialists coordinate emergency responses, and the critical role communications professionals play in keeping our communities safe.

We also had the opportunity to highlight the many public safety partners we proudly support, including law enforcement, fire services, emergency medical services, and other first responders who work together every day to serve the citizens of Ouachita Parish.

Thank you to all of the campers for your enthusiasm, great questions, and interest in public safety. We hope you enjoyed your visit as much as we enjoyed having you!

A huge thank you to KTVE 10 KARD 14 for taking the time to spotlight the incredible work of our emergency communications professionals here at the Ouachita Parish 911 Communications District.

Public education plays a critical role in helping our community understand when and how to call 9-1-1, what information to provide, and the important role our dispatchers and call takers play as the first of the first responders.

We appreciate KTVE helping us share that message and highlighting the dedication of our Heroes under the Headset who answer the call 24/7/365 to help get the right people, to the right place, at the right time, when it matters most.
