June is National Pollinator Month! 🐝 Pollination is extremely important on the Hunger Task Force Farm because it helps produce high-quality fruits and vegetables! Pollinators, like the honeybees cared for by our farmers at The Farm, help crops thrive and support the nutritious harvests shared with local families.

Through strategically placed apiaries and partnerships with organizations like the Milwaukee Waukesha Beekeepers Association, we help maintain healthy bee populations that play an essential role in growing food.

👉HELP US SHARE WITH MILWAUKEE SENIORS👈
Farmers market season is here, and Hunger Task Force is helping older adults access fresh fruits and veggies. Starting on June 1, we are accepting applications from older adults living in Milwaukee County to receive $25 in vouchers that can be exchanged for healthy foods at farmers markets and community supported agriculture programs.

Vouchers are available on a first come, first served basis!

Garlic is growing strong at The Farm! 🧄

This season, farmers are experimenting with growing garlic in the hoop house as part of ongoing efforts to diversify crops and provide more culturally familiar foods to local families!

Very soon, this garlic will be harvested and shared through our network of local food pantries to help bring fresh and flavorful ingredients to tables across our community.

Wow! We are incredibly grateful to Alter Metal Recycling - Milwaukee, our Partner of the Month, who stopped by today and surprised Hunger Task Force with a generous $65,068 donation raised through their “Go Green for The Green” initiative!

Through the campaign, community members donated scrap metal proceeds to raise more than $30,000, and Alter generously matched those funds to double the impact. Thank you Alter, and thank you to everyone who donated.

This is the last week to help us Pack the Pantry! Our May fundraiser supports the purchase of healthy food by the semi-truck load to stock our local network of emergency food partners to meet the needs of the many children and families who will visit when school is let out.

Please join us in wishing a happy work anniversary to Mar Mar Lin and Sarah Christman!

For 12 years, Mar Mar has helped families and older adults apply for and maintain their FoodShare benefits. She is proud to connect people in need with resources to make healthy eating more attainable!

Sarah Christman has been a valued member of our Farm team for 10 years. She ensures nearly half a million pounds of high-quality fresh produce are harvested on The Farm every year to meet the variety of taste and cultural preferences of the diverse neighbors we serve.

We are so appreciative to have these individuals on our team who work every day to feed people in need!

Todah Rabah to the students from Milwaukee Jewish Day School (MJDS) who visited to perform a mitzvah for Hunger Task Force. They volunteered at the Hunger Task Force Farm and at our West Milwaukee headquarters clearing invasive species in the natural areas at The Farm and sorting healthy food for our neighbors in need.

Check out this adorable family of geese wandering near the barn and greenhouse at the Hunger Task Force Farm! These moments are a reminder of the natural beauty that surrounds The Farm in Franklin. So much of this space is more than Wisconsin farmland. It’s prairies, oak savanna and vital habitat for the wildlife that call it home.

For more than 25 years, Hunger Task Force and The Gathering of Southeast WI, Inc. have partnered to feed Milwaukee kids, families and older adults in need. Today, that partnership is more critical than ever. The Gathering is seeing a growing number of families, children and working individuals turn to their meal sites as the cost of living continues to rise.
