West Milford Fire Dept. Station 6

West Milford Fire Dept. Station 6 Our mission is to protect life, property and the environment. Our purpose is to deliver high quality service to our residents. Drill night starts at 7:00 pm.

We provide emergency and prevention services through the efforts of 30 trained firefighters. Anyone interested in joining Company #6, can come down any Monday night. Just stop by, and talk to any of our three fire chiefs or our lieutenants. They will give you all the information you need to join. As always, we are always looking for new members to join our fire company.

🚒🔥 WMFD 6 Corner Drive Alert 🔥🚒

Today, members of the West Milford Volunteer Fire Department Company 6 will be out in the center of town on Union Valley Road in front of Walgreens collecting donations to help support the fire company.

Now’s your chance to finally get rid of that cupholder full of change you’ve been driving around with for the last 6 months.

If you’re passing through town, please drive slow and use caution in the center area while our members are out in the roadway.

Your continued support helps us provide equipment, training, and emergency services to the West Milford community.

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) will host the 45th National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend on May 2–3, 2026, in Emmitsburg, Maryland. This national tribute will honor the firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2025 and previous years.

Communities across the nation are invited to participate in the “Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters” tribute from April 26 through May 3 by illuminating homes, landmarks, fire stations, and buildings with red lights.

The six West Milford Fire Companies will be participating in this tribute, honoring the nation’s fallen firefighters as well as remembering and paying special tribute to West Milford’s own fallen firefighters:

Bill Telgen: Company 5 (Upper Greenwood Lake) - 1977
Ben Auerbach: Company 5 (Upper Greenwood Lake) - 1977
Ray Barrett: Company 1 (Apshawa) - 2008
Fred Stewart: Company 6 (West Milford) - 2016
Ed Steines: West Milford Fire Commissioner – 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of fellow firefighter Lou Rose Sr., who passed away on Saturday, April 4th. Lou served with Apshawa Fire Company (Co. 1) and Macopin Fire Company (Co. 4). In addition to his service in the fire department, he was a longtime West Milford Police Officer, rising through the ranks to become a Sergeant. Lou’s commitment, courage, and service will not be forgotten. He will be deeply missed.
