A day that destroyed the country 25 years ago, the world stood still. On that day, people woke up to go to work, sent their kids to school, lived their lives like any other day. Sun was shining, until darkness filled the air. Thousands of lives lost, including 5 members of our community. Father Mychal Judge, Jeremy Glick, Jean Depalma, Michael Zinzi and TJ Hargrave.

Families lost loved ones and continue to lose loved ones from 9/11 illnesses daily. We will continue to be reminded of that dreadful day and we will never forget. Members of the department responded in various capacities to assist the FDNY and other agencies during that time. Those members will live with those images forever imbeded in their minds forever regardless of the assignment they had.

Back 25 years ago, the country stood united and came together. Supported each other, supported first responders. We were one. Remember the fallen, remember the lives lost, be there for each other and be there for the families who continue to grieve on this day. Remember the members of this community who were lost on this day and the ones we continue lose day after day. Never forget our military members who deployed to fight the battles to protect our country. Never forget.

***JUNE CATCH UP***

Catching up on last months events with the membership of Company 4! In June, Company 4 members responded to 60 calls for service within the township and to our mutual aid towns we serve.

Tanker 4 was delivered and members spent the past couple months sharpening the knowledge and skills of our new addition. Members have been hands on driving, pumping, deploying equipment and using equipment that we haven’t had in the past. The first photos are members running a water supply drill with Tanker 4 at the KOA where members deployed hand lines and Tanker 4 supplied water to Engine 4 and drafted out of Tanker 4’s portable pool.

Next, on Father’s Day, members stood by at the Greenwood Lake Airport Air Show with Tanker 4 along side Company 3. A well attended event!

Next, members attended the West Milford High School Graduation to support the graduating class, graduating members of the department and to support two of our newest members on their graduation, Tyler Rose and James Devore Jr. Congratulations to you both and welcome to our Blacksheep family!

Finally, Company 4 membership attended and stood by at West Milford Day. During the day, members assisted at our Beer Garden to raise funds for our department. We would like to thank all of our sponsors and the community for coming and supporting us! Later that night, Companies 4 and 1 stood by for the West Milford Township July 4th firework celebration. Thankfully there were no secondary incidents and all units cleared at the conclusion of the event. Another well attended event, fine work to West Milford Recreation on another successful event.

This past Saturday, members from the department gathered to to pay honor to Commissioner Ed Steines. Tanker 4, which was recently delivered to Company 4, was dedicated to Commissioner Steines for his dedicated service to the Township of West Milford and to the Emergency Services.

We would like to thank everyone who attended the ceremony. Thank you to the Steines family and to Department Chaplain James Sodt for blessing Tanker 4 before it is put into service in the next coming days.
