Yesterday morning at 249am, Station 293 was alerted for a residential structure fire with possible entrapment. West Mifflin Police arrived on scene in less than a minute of dispatch reporting the structure to be fully involved and everyone outside of the structure. 293 Assistant 2 arrived on scene and established Incident Command and reported a two story residential structure with fire throughout and a downed power line at the front of the structure. 278 Engine arrived on scene and was placed in the alley with multiple lines in service. 293 Truck was placed on Wood Street and placed three lines in service and also utilized the master stream from the aerial. Crews were able to quickly cool down the exposure building on the Delta side of the structure to prevent further extension and damage. The borough of West Mifflin was requested to assist with demoing the building due to extensive damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Allegheny County Fire Marshal Office.

Homeville VFC would like to thank all the mutual aid companies that assisted with bringing this incident under control.

We will be collecting items for the family this Tuesday and Thursday at the station from 6pm-8pm.

Responding Companies: 293, 294, 133, 203, 204, 278, 298, 292, 171, 100, 137, WMPD, Baldwin EMS, ACFM

🔥 Attention West Mifflin Residents! 🔥

Your local fire protection relies on people just like YOU.

Did you know West Mifflin is protected by four fire companies—each one 100% VOLUNTEER?

Our firefighters are neighbors, friends, co-workers, and family members who step up when our community needs them most.
But volunteerism is declining across the country. With today’s busy family schedules, increased training requirements, and an aging membership, our fire companies are being pushed to their limits. And with over 1,000 emergency calls every year, the need for new volunteers has never been greater.

💥 This is where YOU come in. 💥
Donations make a difference—but what we truly need is people. Your time, your skills, your willingness to help.

⭐ What’s in it for you?
- FREE training for all operational members
County and local tax credits for eligible volunteers
- FireVEST Scholarship Program: Earn a full scholarship to CCAC for an associate degree or certificate program
- Opportunities for Non-Operational Volunteers too! Help with administration, fundraising, fire prevention, and community outreach—while still qualifying for tax credits.

Whether you want to run into burning buildings or help run the business side, there’s a place for you on our team.

👉 Contact your local fire company today and discover how YOU can make a real impact in West Mifflin!
