🚓💙What a fantastic evening at our Meet & Greet the Chiefs event this past Friday with our partners at the Palm Bay Police Department!💙🚓

Community members had the opportunity to meet and get to know the new Chiefs of both the West Melbourne and Palm Bay Police Departments while enjoying an evening filled with fun, friendly competition, and great conversations.

From the lighthearted challenges between our officers to the opportunity to connect with residents, the event highlighted the strong partnership between our agencies and the communities we proudly serve. It was wonderful to see so many families, neighbors, and supporters come together to welcome our new leadership teams and strengthen the relationships that make our cities great places to live, work, and visit.

A special thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a success. We look forward to continuing to build connections, foster trust, and serve our communities together.

Today, members of the West Melbourne Police Department gathered to rebeautify the memorial garden dedicated to Captain Carlos Navedo on the fourth anniversary of his passing.

Captain Navedo's dedication to this profession, this department, and the community he served left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Although four years have passed, his memory remains an important part of our agency's history and culture.

As we worked together in the garden today, we were reminded that honoring those who came before us is more than a tradition, it is a responsibility. This memorial serves as a place of reflection and remembrance, ensuring that Captain Navedo's legacy continues to be recognized by future generations of officers and community members.

As Chief of Police, I am proud of the men and women of this department who took time to honor Captain Navedo's memory. Their efforts today demonstrate the strong bonds that exist within our profession and our commitment to never forgetting those who have served alongside us.

Captain Navedo's legacy lives on through the people he mentored, the lives he touched, and the example he set for others to follow. He will always be remembered as a valued member of the West Melbourne Police Department family.

“Any allegation involving the abuse of a child is deeply concerning and is treated with the utmost seriousness by the West Melbourne Police Department. The actions uncovered during this investigation are unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our community. Children are among the most vulnerable members of our community, and any act of violence or mistreatment against them will not be taken lightly. We are committed to thoroughly investigating incidents of this nature, holding offenders accountable, and ensuring victims and their families receive the support they deserve. I want to commend the daycare administration for promptly reporting these allegations and cooperating fully with law enforcement and the Department of Children and Families. The safety and well-being of our children will always remain a top priority."

The West Melbourne Police Department has partnered with 7-Eleven to bring some chill to the summer! 🍦😎

Operation Chill is designed to recognize young people who demonstrate positive behavior, good citizenship, and acts of kindness.

We would like to give a special shoutout to Huck for his kindness, creativity, and support of our first responders and military veterans!

Huck creates homemade bracelets as a heartfelt way to show appreciation for first responders and military veterans who serve our community every day. In recognition of his outstanding act of kindness, Officer Crooks proudly presented Huck with an Operation Chill coupon.

The West Melbourne Police Department would like to congratulate all of the officers from agencies throughout Brevard County who successfully completed the first multi- agency SWAT School in Brevard this week.

This intensive weeklong training program challenged participants both physically and mentally while enhancing the tactical skills, teamwork, and professionalism required of SWAT operators.

We are especially proud to recognize four of our own West Melbourne Police Department SWAT operators who completed the course and demonstrated outstanding dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence.

Their accomplishment reflects the high standards of our department and the strong partnerships that exist among law enforcement agencies across Brevard County.
