Flag placing at Old First Church Methodist has been completed... A BIG Thank you goes out to Bridget Green & Lizzy Bentley for assisting in placing the memorial day flags. Of the 300 grave sites, 295 flags were placed only 5 locations were inaccessible. Bridget has 12 hours in putting the flags out...... Thank you Girls

Flags are going up at the Old First Church Cemetery yard....there are 300 veterans located their from the Rev.War to Vietnam. It "usually" takes abt.4 hrs to complete..but I anticipate at least 12 hrs because of the cemetery condition. Bridget is spear heading the project this year...I'm getting old and Ihave some physical limitations currently..time to pass the torch..She's well adapted....she's been helping me for over 20 years now....a family tradition that will continue. She's 6 hrs in and has only completed Sec. B,C, & D...there's A& E to do yet.

Some fun! On the evening of April 18th 1775, the famous Midnight Ride by Paul Revere occurred. Tomorrow is the 250th Anniversary of the ride! Don't forget to light your two lanterns in your windows tomorrow night to commerate this historical event! Take a picture and share it if you do!

Wreaths Across America 2024 - Thank you to the ones who donated this year, but unfortunately we fell 3 Wreaths short even after using the 7 Branch of service Wreaths supplied free if charge for plots. We need 15 total to do the Cemetery Plots..without decorating the entery posts..we only had 12 wreaths total. The Branch of Service Wreaths are usually set up at the war memorial at the community center. But it's the thought that counts. Again, thank you everyone...It's a very nice tradition and it is appreciated.

Last Nights Tree Lighting at Franklin Lake ... 4th year bringing Santa to the event via 1890 F.D. Hose Wagon. A new tradition we hope to keep going for some time. Thank you Council Matt Sniffin and the WLB Recreation Committee for setting this up.. and special Thank You to the W.L.B. D.P.W for transporting the wagon.

Tomorrow is the annual tree lighting and Holiday Festival at Franklin Lake In West Long Branch starting at 4 pm..Santa will arrive via the Hose Wagon abt 5:30 after the tree is lighted.

At the heart of every faith and culture lies a foundation of gratitude. Gratitude is a powerful force. It teaches us to actively look for the good in our lives, to acknowledge the blessings we receive and give thanks for the everyday gifts we often take for granted. Thanksgiving offers a perfect opportunity to pause and reflect and shift our focus from what we lack to what we have, from our frustrations to our blessings. To reflect on the things we often overlook: the warmth of a home, the laughter of loved ones, the beauty of nature. As we gather around our tables this Thanksgiving, lets remember that the act of giving thanks is not just about the food we share or the people we love, it is about the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy, the good in each other and the blessings that make life meaningful.
