What makes West Linn feel like home?

Is it the places where your kids learn to ride a bike, the trails where you take your evening walks, or the parks where friends and neighbors gather?

Parks and Recreation creates moments that bring our community together—where memories are made, traditions begin, and connections grow.

From summer concerts to youth sports, and quiet places to relax or meet up with friends, these spaces belong to everyone, of all ages.

They give us room to play, places to gather, and a sense of belonging.

Parks and Recreation doesn’t just build parks—it helps make our city feel like home.

Hot weather is just around the corner. Now is the best time to start preparing your home for wildfire season. Small fires become large incidents when dry fuels are left near the home, in gutters or on roofs and become ignited by fire embers. Even far-off wildfires can impact air quality and affect public health, especially for those with chronic health conditions. Learn how to manage the heat, prepare your home for wildfire season and find resources to reduce the health effects of wildfire smoke at our Heat and Wildfire Safety Website: https://westlinnoregon.gov/communications/heat-wildfire-safety

Spring Into Giving Comes to a Close

Today, members of the West Linn Police Department and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue made the final delivery of food collected during our Spring Into Giving – Fighting Food Insecurity community food drive. Along with the food donations, the West Linn Police Department was honored to present a $100 donation to the West Linn Food Pantry in memory of Beaverton Police Officer Brian Gaunt, who grew up in West Linn and dedicated his life to serving others.

Over the past three months, our community once again demonstrated what makes West Linn such a special place. Residents came together to donate food and support neighbors in need. Every can, every box, and every contribution helped make a difference for local families.

We want to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated, donated, shared information about the event, or stopped by one of the collection bins. We are also thankful for our partnership with TVF&R and for the incredible volunteers at the West Linn Food Pantry who work tirelessly to serve our community.

This food drive may be over, but the spirit of generosity and service that fueled it remains strong. Thank you, West Linn, for helping us fight food insecurity and for showing what can happen when a community comes together to help those in need.

Celebrate Juneteenth with new educational resources! Check out the West Linn Library's new exhibit or join Oregon Black Pioneers for "Oregon’s Black History: 450 Years in 45 Minutes" on Monday, June 15 at 6:00 PM.

https://oregonblackpioneers.org/exhibit/the-black-pioneers/

People of African descent have lived and worked in Oregon since before the founding of the earliest English-speaking settlements in the Americas. Despite this, the popular narrative of our state's history excludes the experiences of African Americans before the mid-20th century. This erasure is the result of historic legal and social marginalization that contributes to the ignorance of Oregon's Black heritage, as well as influences contemporary disparities in housing access, community investment, and policing. For this presentation, Oregon Black Pioneers will attempt to correct the record by highlighting key individuals and events that characterize Oregon's unique and centuries-old Black history.

Oregon Black Pioneers is the only historical society dedicated to preserving and sharing the experiences of African Americans across Oregon. For over 30 years, they’ve brought these important stories to life through exhibits, programs, and research. Don’t miss this chance to connect, learn, and be inspired. All are welcome!
