NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING - LAURENS FIRE DISTRICT
We invite you to join us for a public informational meeting on Thursday, June 12th, 2025, at 6:30 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room at Laurens Central School.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the upcoming Special Election on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. This election will give the public an opportunity to vote on a financing program for critical fire district projects, including:
- The acquisition of a new rescue engine
- Improvements to the West Laurens firehouse
- The purchase of a pumper-tanker
The estimated total cost of these projects is $1,625,500. Voting will take place from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Town Hall, located at 37 Brook Street, Laurens, New York.
The proposed rescue engine will replace the current West Laurens Engine, which is over 28 years old and showing significant signs of wear. The new engine will be similar in configuration to the existing one stationed in Laurens. Additionally, firehouse improvements will ensure that the new engine fits safely and will enhance the safety and accessibility of the second floor.
We are also proposing a pumper-tanker to replace the Mount Vision Fire Department’s engine, which is over 23 years old, along with a 1988 pumper-tanker that has been taken out of service due to mechanical issues. The proposed pumper-tanker is a used, like-new 2019 Demo model that has never been put into service.
This project is essential for the Laurens Fire District to maintain effective service to the Town of Laurens. We encourage you to attend the meeting on June 12th to learn more! For any immediate questions, please feel free to message our page. 🚒
