The Village of West Lafayette will be establishing a list of candidates for a full-time position as Police Officers for the West Lafayette Police Department.

The Village of West Lafayette, founded in 1850, is approximately one (1) square mile in size with a live-in population of approximately 2,400 people. The West Lafayette Police Department operates with one (1) officer on-duty per shift; our response area includes everything within the village corporation, as well as outside the village (when requested under a mutual aid agreement with the County Sheriff’s Office).

Qualified candidates must be of good moral character and possess an excellent work ethic and service-oriented attitude. Requirements for this position will include:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must possess at least a high school diploma or GED
- Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license & good driving record
- Must currently possess Ohio Peace Officer Training Certification
- Must pass a criminal background check

Village benefits include Health Care (Employee participation), insurance (health, prescription, dental, vision, and life), membership in a state pension program, and paid time off (vacation, sick leave accruals, and nine (9) paid holidays a year. The Village picks up 5% of the 12 ¼% employees’ contribution to the Police and Fire Pension. The Village pays 95% of the payroll deducted Healthcare coverage. Pay Scale ranges from $20.56 to $23.83 an hour depending on years of service and experience.

***MILITARY BANNER PROGRAM***

The Village of West Lafayette (along with other county villages and the City of Coshocton) has partnered with Blue Star Mothers for a Veteran Banner Program. Active military members, veterans, or family of veterans may make an application for a 24” x 37” banner to be placed in the Village beginning on Main Street through North Kirk Street to honor veterans in our area. Banners will be displayed in the City or Village of preference. Families are encouraged to complete the application that is available on the Village website(https://www.westlafayettevillage.com/forms) or in the Village Administration Office and provide a photo of their veteran. The total cost of this banner will be $55.00, and the Village will take care of hanging and storing the banners. The banners are scheduled to be hung Memorial Day through Veterans Day in the Village.
