The WJHS Class of 1978 lost a fellow classmate, Michael Todd Shipley, on March 6, 2026. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to Michael's family and friends.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR MICHAEL TODD SHIPLEY....
Michael Todd Shipley, 65, passed away on March 6, 2026, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Born on March 22, 1960, Mike grew up with a love for nature and a deep appreciation for the world around him.
A graduate of West Jefferson High School, Mike went on to dedicate 45 years of service to the General Motors Corporation before retiring last year from the Corvette plant in Bowling Green.
Mike found joy in the great outdoors, spending his time hiking, fishing, snorkeling, and visiting the beach. Hawaii held a special place in his heart as one of his favorite travel destinations. An animal lover throughout his life, Mike cared for many pets who brought him happiness and companionship.
Mike is survived by his Aunt Jean Cheeseman, Uncle Larry Cheeseman, and cousins Sherry Cox Poplin, Kelly Cox, Larry Cheeseman II, and Chad Cheeseman. He was preceded in death by his mother, Susie Shipley, grandparents Robert (Bob) Shipley and Inez Shipley, and Aunt Bonnie Shipley.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 18, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Pavilion in Garrett Park off Walnut Street, West Jefferson, Ohio. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Mike's memory.
Mike's kind and caring soul left an indelible mark on those that knew him period. May his memory bring comfort to all who cherished him.
