TODAY IS THE DAY for FUN! The West Hurley Fire Department invites you and your family to our annual Touch-A-Truck event on Sunday June 7th from 10:00am - 2:00pm, at the firehouse (24 Wall Street, West Hurley). This is an interactive family event, open to the public, for children of all ages to get a hands-on opportunity to see, climb in, and explore many different types of vehicles. Everyone is welcome to attend! Activities for children of all ages, face painting, food concession stand, various vendors, and much more to come!

WHFD had the honor of escorting Bill Heinitz as the Grand Marshall in the Town of Hurley 2026 Memorial Day Parade. Bill is truly a special one-of-a-kind person! Bill Heinitz is a veteran who served in the Navy for more than 20 years. Bill is a volunteer firefighter of WHFD, he currently serves on the Board of Fire Commissioners, and always goes above and beyond in making a difference to serve his community. It is a true privilege to call Bill our friend! We are forever grateful for all that he has done, is currently doing, and all that he continues to do for our fire department and our community!

Saturday, May 23rd, WHFD was dispatched at 7:49pm for mutual aid to assist Woodstock Fire Department for an active house fire. WHFD responded with 6 interior firefighters, a engine, and a tanker. Crews were back in service at 1:15am.

On Saturday May 23rd, WHFD provided an engine with 2 firefighters to support the Fire Fighter 1 training class at the Ulster County Training Center in their live burn simulation. Students in this Firefighter 1 class are practicing structural firefighting skills in a live burn simulations which are rigorous, but in a controlled exercise for safety. Firefighters in Ulster County are extremely lucky to have the support and a training center like this to train and to perfect the skills that are needed to perform in situations that are difficult to replicate in our own firehouses.
