In 1919 a group of West Hempstead residents joined together to form the Victory Chemical Engine and Hose Company #1 offering fire protection services to the residents. Since inception the volunteer membership has served the West Hempstead community with care, compassion, & pride. Today, The West Hempstead Fire Department responds to over 750 alarms annually for both fire & medical emergencies. For more information email [email protected]

This afternoon Assistant Chief 7602 and Engine 767 responded to a Working House Fire in the Village of Hempstead. 767 was the first engine on scene and put two hose lines into operation to knock down the Fire. Once again our members operated in freezing conditions on scene for multiple hours.
