The water line has been repaired and services are restored. Please be aware that due to the leak the naturally occurring minerals such as iron and manganese in our water lines have been disturbed. You may experience discolored water. The water is still treated and safe. The minerals will settle. Please be patient during this process as it can take 24-48 hours. If you are still experiencing dirty water on Monday feel free to call the office.

We are aware of an outage that is affecting the entire district. Crews are on site and working to restore water as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Dear Customers,

We understand that some of you experience discolored water from time to time, and we sincerely appreciate your patience as we work toward a long-term solution. We believe we have identified an approach that will significantly reduce these issues, and we are currently pursuing funding to help make it possible.

The discoloration is primarily due to our use of well water. Our wells draw from deep underground, where naturally occurring minerals such as iron and manganese are present. Because these minerals are heavier than water, they can settle at the bottom of the pipelines. When events such as new construction (which involves flushing water lines) or fire hydrant use occur, these minerals can become temporarily stirred up, causing discoloration. Over time, they settle again and water clarity returns.

We have submitted a grant application to the Utah Division of Drinking Water to install large-scale filtration systems designed to address this issue. The application will be reviewed by the Drinking Water Board. If approved, the project will move into engineering, planning, and construction phases, which will take time to complete. I plan on keeping you informed as we move forward with this project.

We are encouraged by the progress being made and are hopeful this project will provide a lasting improvement to water quality.

To help support our grant application, we are seeking customers who would be willing to write a brief letter describing their experiences with water discoloration. These letters will be submitted to the review board as part of the application process. All letters must be submitted by April 25th.

If you are willing to help or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Please email us your letter at [email protected]

Thank you for your time and continued support,

Ryan Rogers

Due to spring weather and increased water usage, you may notice occasional discoloration in your water. This is caused by changes in water flow and volume within the lines.

This may occur off and on, but please be assured the water remains safe to drink and use. We appreciate your understanding!

Taylor West Weber Water will be flushing our water lines during the month of November, excluding weekends. During this time, you may not have any water because of pressure loss, or just have very low pressure. You may also get temporary discoloring of the water, anywhere from light yellow to dark brown.
•Iron colored water is generally related to groundwater wells. Because Taylor West Weber Water use wells as our main source of water, the iron mineral is soluble and discolors the water. Iron will build up on the inside of the pipelines and when it is disturbed by unusual water flow, it will discolor the water.
•Discolored water is not harmful and may still be used during the flush.
•During this time, please make sure water is running clear before doing any laundry. Discolored water may cause clothes to discolor.
•If any hot/warm water is used while water is discolored it will be stored in your hot water tank. You may want to flush the hot water tank to remove any discolored water.
•If you are a landlord and have any renters in our District who this may affect, please notify them.
By flushing, we hope to help remove some of the iron buildup to help keep discoloration of the water to a minimum. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience. Please remember the aquifer that our wells are pumping from have a lot of natural iron, and sulfur content and we do this flush to lessen the effects of these. However, it will not eliminate them, and you could experience discolored and/or smelly water periodically throughout the year. We are doing everything possible to provide quality water to the district.
