We had an awesome meeting today with Ellen Hart, Campaign Coordinator for Congressman John Larson. She was really enthusiastic about talking to us, and told us all about the different financial and personal aspects of the average campaign. Most importantly, though, she emphasized that teens CAN make a difference in politics (by making phone calls, canvassing, attending rallies, and talking about politics with their friends). In the immortal words of Bob Dylan: "We'll soon shake your windows and rattle your walls; for the times, they are a'changing".

Tomorrow afternoon, we'll be meeting with John Larson's Campaign Coordinator, Ellen Hart. This will be the first of many political advisers and politicians who will come in and visit us.

Democratic Senatorial Candidate William Tong will be coming in to visit us on April 27th. We hope to have the other two Democratic Senatorial Candidates, Susan Bysiewicz and Chris Murphy, as well as Congressman John Larson, State Legislators Beth Bye and Andy Fleischmann, and many others.

Democratic Party Fact of the Day: Only 15 Democrats have held the office of President. Luckily, due to the changing nature of political parties, many of the "Republican" presidents were much more liberal than their Democratic counterparts!

Democratic Party Fact of the Day: The Democratic Party was founded in 1828 as a retaliatory response to the the increasing role government was playing in domestic affairs. It did not have the ideals we know it for today until around the turn of the 20th century.

In the next month, we will be visited by Ellen Hart, campaign coordinator for Congressman John Larson; and State Rep. William Tong, candidate in the Democratic primary for US Senate. We will also be screening a new short documentary, The Road We've Traveled, about Obama's first three years in office.
