TFHS Regular Meeting June 4, 2026
Meeting was held at the Historical Society Store building in Breakabeen. Meeting was called to order @ 4:00 pm by President Joyce Hodder with a salute to the flag. Members present were: Tom Conto, Becky Noxon, Laura Spickerman, Clayton Ash, Jackie Ash, Charley Spickerman, Shirley Goodfellow, Brian Goodfellow, Karen Cuccinello, Joyce Hodder, Albert Hodder.
Treasurer’s report was read by Charley. Motion for approval was made by Jackie and seconded by Joyce. All in favor, motion passed.
Minutes from the May 7, 2026 were approved with a motion made by Laura and seconded by Joyce. All in favor, motion passed.
Al asked the question – what are we going to do with our money? He was assured that there will be ways to spend it.
Events: Next week, June 12, The Bluegrass band YakYak Creek is scheduled to give a concert 4 to 7 pm at the schoolhouse. Becky’s famous strawberry shortcake will be available. Rain location will be the West Fulton Firehouse if its available. Becky will ask to ensure that we can use the firehouse. Joyce mentioned that we should post flyers throughout the community for upcoming events. KariAnn made up some for the concert that were excellent.
It was decided that some tower fans would be a good addition to the store building not only for meetings but when members want to do some research. Al will pick two up at Walmart or some other store. Motion to purchase fans made by Jackie and seconded by Laura. All in favor, motion passed.
Veteran’s Park: The annual Memorial Day ceremony was held 7 pm May 31. About 31 attended, the American Legion performed the flag ceremony. The weather was sketchy but didn’t hurt us too bad.
Calendar sales for the celebration in Middleburgh July 3, 2026. It was agreed that we lower prices in an effort to reduce our inventory of non - current calendars. 2026 calendars will be sold for $7.00, 2025 and older versions will be sold for $5.00. Books will also be offered for sale.
Becky is ready to have the 2027 calendars printed. Motion was made by Charley to have her order 100 and seconded by Joyce. Motion passed.
Brian gave a talk about the survey map of the Hamm property. Debbie Hamm said there was a home there that is no longer there. Larry Hamm showed Brian where an old mill was.
The probation department has offered a person that could do community service work for us. Probation would supervise – no one was opposed to having them. Scraping and painting of the schoolhouse would be one possibility. Motion was made by Jackie to do this with a second by Laura.
Jackie is going to look into buying clips we can fasten wire to for hanging our pictures at the store building without having to put holes in the wall. Those old plaster walls can’t have holes in them.
Motion to adjourn was made by Charley and seconded by Joyce.
