THE TOWNSHIP OF WEST DEPTFORD Eagle Pride remains strong to present day!

West Deptford Township was officially incorporated on March 1, 1871 when it broke away from Deptford Township through an act of legislation. On March 21, 1871, the first Township Meeting took place at the Thorofare #3 School with three committeemen and one clerk. The meeting at the new Town Hall was held on March 2, 1875, which we now know as the West Deptford Little Theater building. In 1878, the eastern boundary was moved to separate the Boro of Westville and in 1902, the Boro of National Park followed suit.

Tonight’s storm and straight-line winds have impacted numerous roads between the area Jessup and Kings Highway through Route 45 toward Mantua. Public Works, Police, and Fire personnel have been responding to calls since approximately 9 PM and have been working throughout the evening to clear hazards and make roadways passable.

Several streets throughout these areas remain impacted by downed or low-hanging wires, fallen trees, and other obstructions. Crews will continue working to address these hazards as quickly and safely as possible and will continue reporting downed lines to the appropriate utility companies.

Please use caution when traveling, as there may be significant road debris, downed trees or tree limbs, low-hanging utility lines, and traffic light outages impacting our roadways.

Do not approach or touch any downed wires. Report downed wires or other dangerous conditions to emergency services so our personnel can help secure the area and notify the appropriate utility company.

If possible, please avoid unnecessary travel tonight and allow emergency personnel and utility crews to safely respond to storm-related hazards.
