For this July, we are honoring Disability Pride Month!

At Tayo Na Library, we’re featuring the voices of the Deaf community with Sayaw ng mga Kamay by Joanna Que—a beautifully illustrated children’s book that introduces readers to Filipino Sign Language (FSL).

Sayaw ng mga Kamay celebrates the way Deaf children use their hands to speak, feel, and dance through the world.

Big thanks to our new volunteer for making this beautiful graphic and writing its caption! We appreciate your work to spread the word about diverse Pinoy books. ❤️ 📚 ❤️

A message from one of our founders

"Magpakumbaba ka at magaral at magtrabaho ng mabuti, at magiging mayaman ka" my Lolo once said. But that's the same person who's lived and seen two peaceful revolutions, and walked with me to my first. Goes to show that there will come a time where you just have to stand up for what you think is right and hope that others will join with you.

We choose the side of humanity, immigrants and protestors, over false narratives and those who would seek to be kings. Farm workers, street vendors, day laborers, students, parents, children, and all others who came to this country for a better life are not a threat to our lives and this country. Unconstitutional action is. Those who attack the press and try to prevent them from reporting, those who would incite violence and then point the finger as if they didn’t start it themselves, those who would take away healthcare and safety from others are the ones who truly endanger our democracy.

We say no to ICE.
We say no to kidnapping.
We say no to the spread of hate and disinformation.

Soon to be added to the collection!

One of our favorite new reads, especially with this being , is Strike! : The Farm Workers' Fight for Their Rights by Larry Dane Brimner. Did you know the Filipino origins of the Delano Grape Strikes and how integral Filipinos were to the Farm Workers Movement?

Tin Tin Learns Tagalog from is a cute song-filled board book in bilingual Tagalog-English that is perfect for babies and toddlers to snuggle up with family and share the joys of language and music together.

Everything We Never Had by is an incredible journey along multiple generations of young Filipino men all from the same family. From the original Maghabol, Francisco, to come to California to earn money and send home in 1930 Watsonville all the way to the present with Enzo in Philadelphia at the start of the Pandemic, Randy Ribay explores how the past affects the present, bringing to life the often forgotten lived experiences of Filipino immigrants and the generations born from them. We highly recommend the audiobook as well.

We are so excited to acquire these titles and hope that y'all enjoy them, too!

Our next steps are to add them to the catalogue, put our logo label and barcode on, and then bring them to for browsing and borrowing.

Due to lack of attendance, we will be ending Storytime short. We are so grateful to for giving our library a space here in Carson and look forward to next month when we will be here on the 4th Sunday for storytime.

What's new?

We recently added some English-Maranao picture books on Marawi, some Tagalog-Engljsh chapter books, and the big books are now officially at Teofilo.

Happy reading, everyone! 📚❤️

Tayo Na Library is excited to announce that we will be hosting a free bilingual Tagalog-English Storytime at in Carson this month!

Join us as we read Araw sa Palengke (A Day in the Market) written by May Tobias-Papa with illustrations by Isabel Roxas. This book was generously donated by and is in a very special format called a big book. That means that it is an extra large book with large text that is designed to be read in group settings.

Not only will you get to see our regular collection, but we will be unveiling our new big book collection which not only has Tagalog big books, but also Cebuano and Ilokano big books. There aren’t enough words to say how amazed and grateful we are to have received and be able to add to our collection literature in these languages. It’s already hard enough to find Tagalog, let alone any other tongues. It is such a blessing.
