This past weekend, West Covina Explorer Post #499 competed in the Chandler Tactical Competition in Chandler, Arizona, alongside 40 other teams from across the United States.

Post #499 earned 3rd place in the Incident Command System-A (ICS-A) event, where our Explorers were tasked with managing a simulated crisis incident.

We are extremely proud of our Explorers! 👮🏻‍♀️🏆

Earlier this morning, WCPD Explorer Post #499 presented the colors at today’s Memorial Day Ceremony, which took place at City Hall.

This Memorial Day, we remember and honor military personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice for this great country.

This past weekend, some of our explorers and advisors traveled to Chandler, Arizona, to participate in the 2024 Chandler Tactical Competition. This event brought together explorers from various agencies, providing a platform for friendly competition and an opportunity to network and foster new friendships within the law enforcement community. Many recognized our explorers' teamwork, hard work, and effort; they represented our department well, and we could not be more proud!

Explorer Lieutenant Pelayo received 4th place in the female pistol shoot competition, and Explorer Salas received 5th in the male pistol shoot competition.

Thank you to and for hosting this fun event once again! We can't wait for next year.

Fun fact: These officers used to be WCPD Explorers and Sgt Marquez (pictured far right) used to be their Explorer Advisor. Now they all serve and protect the community together
