We'd like to apologize for the amount of attention our post brought and explain our decision.

and now that we have your attention, we'd also like to announce that the 2026 South Carolina Wing summer encampment is officially open for student registration. We're being so for real right now. Respectfully… you’re not ready (yet). And that's the point. Encampment changes you, makes you ready, and gives you the confidence you need to succeed.

Parents, only members of Civil Air Patrol can join the summer encampment. If you're looking for a program that helps your teen grow, contact us today to find a local squadron near you.

Behind every great community event… there’s a team making it happen

Cadets and senior members from Civil Air Patrol’s ACE Basin Composite Squadron spent the weekend at the Beaufort Oyster Roast keeping Live Oaks Park clean, clearing tables, and hauling away oyster shells — all to support a fundraiser that benefits local nonprofits.

Their hard work didn’t just help the event run smoothly. It made an impact on the entire community… and even inspired a new member to join.

This is what service looks like.

It's that time.....time to apply as staff for the annual South Carolina Wing encampment. Applications closing soon!

What is encampment? Encampment is Civil Air Patrol’s premier summer training experience—where cadets step into a real-world, military-style environment focused on leadership, discipline, teamwork, and personal growth. It’s where confidence is built, friendships are forged, and future leaders are shaped.

But the magic doesn’t just happen—it’s created by the staff.

Cadets: Staffing encampment is your next level. You’ll lead, mentor, and challenge others while sharpening your own leadership skills in ways you can’t get anywhere else.

Adult members: Your guidance makes all the difference. From mentoring cadet leaders to ensuring a safe, structured environment, you are the backbone of the experience.

Encampment changes lives. Be the reason it does. Apply to staff.

We had the opportunity to meet with state legislators to discuss an issue that matters to the volunteers who serve our communities during emergencies.

Civil Air Patrol members regularly respond to missions such as search and rescue operations, disaster relief, and hurricane response, including support during Hurricane Helene. Because our members are volunteers, these missions sometimes require time away from their civilian jobs.

We spoke with lawmakers about ensuring protections are in place so volunteers do not risk losing their employment when they step forward to serve during emergency response missions.

We appreciate the time our legislators took to meet with us and look forward to continuing to work together to support the volunteers who help keep our communities safe.

31 units donated. More than 90 lives impacted.

Last week, our members rolled up their sleeves to support a community blood drive, making a real difference where it matters most.

✔️ 31 units of blood collected
✔️ 21 first-time donors
✔️ Over 90 potential lives saved
✔️ 12 members renewed or completed their Mission Staff Assistant qualifications

Service is at the heart of everything we do, whether in the air, on the ground, or right here in our communities. Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and helped make this lifesaving effort possible. 🩸

You know how some organizations have prom?

Civil Air Patrol has an Annual Conference.

Same idea… just replace the dancing with emergency services training, search and rescue scenarios, leadership sessions, and a lot of coffee.

Last weekend, volunteers from across South Carolina came together to sharpen skills, share ideas, and recognize the people who step up when communities need help most.

So no corsages. No limo rides.

Just a room full of people who take service seriously… and still manage to have a pretty great time doing it.
