Duty crews absolutely work to reduce response times for our community in times of need. First call of the night came in as the crew was enroute to staff the station so a few minutes were tacked onto our response but still a great improvement as deserved by our community members.

(Shout out to Deb's Lil Deli for holding onto our dinners until our return!)

Very pleased to announce our officers and board members for 2026.

President - Michael Hayward
Captain (EMS1) - Vanessa White, AEMT-P
Lieutenant (EMS2) - Joseph Haskins, AEMT-P
Treasurer - Jim Hammond
Secretary - Scott Sharp
Associate board member - Helen Zelko

Grateful to past and current officers and board members for all the time and effort, seen and unseen, that is put into CVAS. I personally am proud to serve with these people. Like most small, rural agencies, we are struggling, but for working with the small numbers we have I am proud of what we can and do accomplish for the community.

Here is to doing even better in 2026.

The new address signing project for all roads, state to private, is complete except for a few corrections and an audit of all roads in the township that Clarksville Fire's Chief will be completing soon. This project was a collaboration between Clarksville Fire District, CVAS, and the Town of Clarksville though over the last two years much of the seen and unseen work has been carried out by the same few and we want to give them special appreciation. This project being completed makes it easier for CVFC, CVAS, and any mutual aid departments to find you in an emergency.

I personally want to give acknowledgement to Clarksville's Fire Chief and one of CVAS's drivers, Scott Sharp, for the countless hours I witnessed given each week making signs, pounding posts, etc. Be sure to give a big special thank you to Scott Sharp, Ron Truax, James Hammond, and Mark Bossert especially for their efforts. 👏👏

🚑 ATTENTION CLARKSVILLE RESIDENTS 🚑

We want to hear from you! Comment below!

There are 6 links in the out-of-hospital chain of survival for adult cardiac arrest. The first two are 1.) Early recognition and activation of the emergency response system, and
2.) Early cardiopulmonary resuscitation with an emphasis on compressions.

This is where we need your help. Every minute matters and we want to see better and better outcomes for our community members. One way we can do this is by providing even earlier quality care by having family, friends, and neighbors confident in their ability to provide basic care while awaiting the arrival of an emergency response crew. Anyone who has ever waited for an ambulance for a loved one knows just how long those minutes feel. Do you know what to do if you witness a cardiac arrest? Pause and think about it.

We are gauging interest in hosting an AHA Heartsaver CPR class for community members so if this is something you're interested in comment below or reach out directly to this page to discuss with Vanessa!
