I joined the City of Aurora’s Sustainability Town Hall to talk about data centers and how our community and state can move forward while protecting residents. That means keeping utility rates affordable, protecting our water, and addressing data security concerns.

There were several young people in the room, and I had the opportunity to ask them why they chose to attend. Their presence was a powerful reminder of who we’re fighting for.

We must do better for our kids. Protecting our water, keeping utility costs affordable, and safeguarding our communities are common-sense steps toward ensuring we leave the world better than we found it.

Congratulations to Family Service Association of Greater Elgin on the grand opening of their new location in Aurora!

FSA has been a great partner for providing accessible, high-quality behavioral health services and advocating for behavioral health policy. We are so excited to see them expand their services into the Aurora area with the opening of their new office. Check them out at the Rush Copley Healthplex center!

I am excited to join Poderistas and Casa Michoacán DuPage for the Power Circle Event on Sunday, August 29th at 10:00AM.

Our communities have been through so much and we deserve spaces to reflect and celebrate one another. The event will feature a community discussion, art, relaxing meditation music, community giveaways, and resources, therapists, that promote healing and connection. This event is open to any women who are interested in attending. Please see the flyer for details.

I am deeply humbled to receive the Lisa LaForge Award from the Family Service Association of Greater Elgin Area.

Lisa was a testament to what it means to be deeply committed to your field, to stand in the face of adversity and use your platform to challenge systems. She was a champion for progress, including her support for the implementation of SASS, the Mental Health Juvenile Justice program, and so much more.

I am honored to receive an award bearing the name of someone who truly understood that progress requires us to challenge the ways we have always done things and to have the courage to imagine a world so much brighter.

I remain committed to that work, and I am incredibly grateful to be supported by the amazing team at FSA and to carry forward the values Lisa embodied.

Did you know? A rare Michoacán mask collection, Masks: Identity in Diversity, will be showcased at the Aurora Historical Society from August 21 through November 1. The exhibit features original artwork from artists across the United States and Mexico.

I was honored to join Casa Michoacán DuPage and the featured artists for the first viewing of this beautiful collection, which highlights the meaningful partnership between the United States and the people of Michoacán through the art of printmaking. This exhibit holds a special place in my heart as Michoacán is my mother’s birthplace and the exhibit highlights the struggles and the immense contributions our communities have made between borders.

Started off the week with the DuPage Children's Museum! Did you know DCM partners with West and East Aurora to provide programming for students? It was great to learn more about their services and the ways they’re supporting students and families across the 25th District.
