This is a community that truly links arms with each other. Thank you Lakota Family YMCA and Lakota Optimist Club for your consistent, and continual support. Thank you to all the individuals who drop items in these bins! It’s amazing to see people consistently invest in their own well-being. It’s even more amazing to see those same people invest in the well-being of others

The Lakota Family YMCA is proud to partner with the Lakota Optimist Club as an official collection site for Reach Out Lakota!

When you visit the Y, you'll see our donation barrel in the lobby where members and guests can help stock the shelves at Reach Out Lakota, providing food and essential items to local families in need. The Lakota Optimist Club will regularly deliver donated items to Reach Out Lakota, making it easy for our community to support neighbors facing food insecurity.

This month, the most-needed item is canned fruit (fruit cocktail, mandarin oranges, peaches, pears, and pineapple), but all donations are appreciated. Simply drop your items in the collection barrel during your next visit.

Together, we can make a meaningful difference for families right here in our community.

Today, we’re recognizing the dedicated board members who help guide the mission of Reach Out Lakota with wisdom, compassion, and leadership. From providing oversight and strategic direction to supporting fundraising efforts and advocating for our community, their service helps ensure families continue to receive food, clothing, and hope when they need it most.

It has begun! Our Summer Food Fight between local companies and teams will fill our shelves during a typically low time. Thanks to these companies who just joined the fight against hunger! What a gift to our neighbors. Check out the 400 boxes of cereal that Independence Elementary School collected in such a fun way! Our whole community is strengthened from acts of kindness like these.

We had the privilege of visiting these incredible 1st grade classes to personally thank them for the difference their hard work is making in our community. Through their "Bird Store," students learned entrepreneurial skills, teamwork, and the importance of caring for neighbors in need. After choosing Reach Out Lakota, their kindness is now helping provide food and clothing for local families. Their compassion gives us so much hope for the future.
