What an amazing year!

It’s hard to believe it’s already been one week since our last day of school. Thank you to our awesome students, staff, families, and community for making the 2025-2026 school year so special.

What an incredible Field Day at Union Elementary! ☀️

We could not have asked for a better day from start to finish. The weather was beautiful, the kids were amazing, and the energy was so much fun all day long.

A huge shoutout to our wonderful volunteers who spent so much time in the sun running stations and helping make today possible. We are also so grateful for Ms. Bayliff and all of her planning and organization, along with our amazing teachers and staff for making the day such a success.

Today was one of our favorite Union traditions, the Parade of Graduates! 🎓

We loved welcoming graduating seniors back home to Union Elementary for one more walk through the halls. It was such a fun and special morning celebrating this wonderful achievement with our current Hawks cheering them on.

Once a Hawk, always a Hawk! ❤️🖤

A team representing Union Elementary School achieved Highest Honors in the recent WordMasters Challenge™—a national vocabulary competition involving nearly 125,000 students annually. The sixth grade team scored an impressive 169 points out of a possible 200 in the last of three meets this year, placing tenth in the nation.

The sixth graders also placed sixth nationally in the overall competition with a cumulative score of 532 points out of a possible 600.

Competing in the difficult Blue Division of the WordMasters Challenge™, the students were coached in preparation for the WordMasters Challenge™ by Mr. Vincent and Mrs. Geiger.

The WordMasters Challenge™ is an exercise in critical thinking that first encourages students to become familiar with a set of interesting new words (considerably harder than grade level), and then challenges them to use those words to complete analogies expressing various kinds of logical relationships. Working to solve the analogies helps students learn to think both analytically and metaphorically. Although most vocabulary enrichment and analogy-solving programs are designed for use by high school students, WordMasters Challenge™ materials have been specifically created for younger students in grades three through eight. They are particularly well suited for children who are motivated by the challenge of learning new words and enjoy the logical puzzles posed by analogies.

The WordMasters Challenge™ program is administered by a company based in New Jersey which is dedicated to inspiring high achievement in American schools. Further information is available at the company’s website: http://www.wordmasterschallenge.com

Field Day is Coming! 🎉🏃‍♂️

We’re excited for our Union Field Day on Tuesday, May 19th (with a rain date of Wednesday, May 20th)!

This is always one of the most fun days of the year—and it takes a LOT of volunteers to make it a success. Please consider helping out on either day. Be on the lookout for a sign up link coming soon with opportunities to get involved!

STEAM in action at Union! ⚡🎶

Today in STEAM, our 5th grade students brought science & creativity together in an awesome way! Using Snap Circuits and the Makey Makey coding, they built closed circuits and discovered how graphite (from a pencil!) can act as a conductor.

Students turned simple paper drawings into working musical keyboards.. playing real notes with just their fingers! 🎹
