We want to thank our good friends at Shoprite of West Caldwell for their generous donation of a new automatic vitals machine! This device costs $2100 and will monitor our patients' blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation while we are busy performing other interventions. Shoprite has also decided to cover the cost of our water delivery that is used to stock our building, fire rehab van, and for standbys in the upcoming summer heat. Thank you so much ShopRite!

"Improving Outcomes, Together"

For the father who regained a heartbeat and was able to return home to see his children off to college, we do this for you. For the newborn who took their first breath in the back of our ambulance, we do this for you. For the elderly widow who didn't want to worry her family and called 911 when she was having trouble breathing, we do this for you. For the passerby driving through one of our five towns when they lost control of their vehicle, we do this for you.

But EMS is a job that is too heavy to carry alone.

To our EMTs who show up and do their best for their patients each and every time they answer a call,
To our EMT trainees who are just starting out with hopes and dreams of making a difference,
To our driver members who allow us to get calls answered when they otherwise may not have,
To our dispatchers who wake up at 3am alongside us to help guide us,
To our past active members and mentors, whose wisdom we carry every time we step into an ambulance,
To our mutual aid services who make sure no call goes unanswered,
and to our Paramedic partners who work alongside us,
Thank you. We could not do this alone.
Happy EMS Week 2026!

Since our inception in 1937, the West Essex First Aid Squad has been 100% volunteer based and no patient has ever been billed for our services. Every dollar donated keeps our ambulances stocked and on the road, keeps tools on our rescue truck, coolers and shelters in our fire rehab van, jackets on our members in the rain and cold weather, and keeps our building safe and comfortable.
If you are able and would like to help, you can donate via our annual Spring Fund Drive letter sent out to all local residents this week, or on our website at https://westessexfas.org/donate/

Snow is not stopping the volunteers of the West Essex First Aid Squad. Throughout the storm, we have multiple ambulances staffed and have answered multiple calls for medical assistance. We're out so you don't have to. Again, we remind everyone to stay indoors and call 911 in the event of an emergency.

01/24/2026

We appreciate everyone who will be out in the storm from necessity, especially our EMS VOLUNTEERS.

Please don't make their work any more difficult than necessary. If you don't have a true emergency, stay home/indoors.

Looking forward to a fun night! Thank you in advance for your support!
