In observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Ogemaw County Prosecuting Attorney's Office is hosting a powerful visual campaign featuring hand-decorated masks on public display. These masks represent the painful reality of domestic violence: they symbolize the "smiling faces" and normal outward appearances that survivors often feel forced to present to the world while hiding abuse, fear, and trauma behind closed doors. They are placed on a scale of justice embodying the fact that justice for victims stops the silence behind the masks. Also, alongside critical educational information about domestic violence and local resources, the display features a beautiful, custom-crafted awareness quilt. The quilt is being raffled off by River House, Inc.—a non-profit organization providing free, confidential emergency shelter and legal advocacy to survivors in Ogemaw County—with all proceeds directly funding their supportive services and shelter operations.

This year's Ogemaw County Baby Shower was a huge success, bringing together new and expecting parents for a fun and informative day filled with valuable resources, helpful information, gifts, prizes, and plenty of community support. It was wonderful to see so many new and expecting parents come together to learn about the many services available right here in our community dedicated to helping families.

Parents and caregivers also learned about the ABCs of Safe Sleep—helping babies sleep Alone, on their Backs, and in a safe Crib. These simple steps can help reduce the risk of sleep-related infant deaths and, most importantly, save a life.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be a baby shower without tons of gifts, prizes and giveaways!

A very special thank you to my amazing staff at the Ogemaw County Prosecutor’s Office who work so hard each year to make this event possible. Your dedication and hard work are truly appreciated!

Last Friday, our staff took part in active shooter training—a difficult but incredibly important reminder of how quickly an emergency can happen and how important it is to be prepared.

We are so grateful for the first responders and training professionals who take the time to educate, prepare, and practice with our staff. By keeping our first responders trained, prepared, and ready to step in when our community needs them the most, we can save lives.

And thank you to our first responders who continues to learn, train, and prepare with the goal of keeping others safe. Your dedication, courage, and commitment to protecting others do not go unnoticed.

We appreciate you more than words can say. 🇺🇸❤️

As the summer comes to a close, the Ogemaw County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office wants to extend a huge thank you and a bittersweet goodbye to our incredible summer intern, Jaivon! From handling case files and observing courtroom proceedings to dive-deep legal research, you have been an invaluable asset to our team and the Ogemaw County community. While we are sad to see you leave, we are incredibly excited to watch your future legal career unfold. We have no doubt you will make an exceptional attorney!
