West Branch-Rose City Area Schools is a K-12 consolidated district encompassing communities in the northeastern part of the lower peninsula of Michigan. We are excitedly preparing for substantial expansion in our Career Technical Education (CTE) programs including building trades, CAD equipment, health and science, culinary arts, Agriscience and greenhouse. The high school has high participation in CTE courses, with almost all students enrolling in at least one class prior to graduation. Community partnerships (Humane Society, Commission on Aging and a local developer) have used the high school building trades program to construct buildings and houses over the past several years. Our machines/metals class maintains a partnership with NASA in making parts and, because dairy farming is a significant industry in the area, participation in Agriscience is also high. Athletic programs, teams, clubs and pool are all popular activities for students and the community. Our food service programs offers free meals and snacks, providing a large variety of quality and nutritious meals. Our community maintains a hometown feel while also rapidly expanding with new employment opportunities in medical (regional medical and regional cancer centers) and retail (outlet mall and national chains such as Home Depot and Meijer) and an ever growing selection of local and national dining establishments. Recreation and tourism are an important seasonal aspect of the area with camping, parks, river and lake water sports, golf, snowmobiling, skiing, hunting, and off-road vehicle opportunities.
