We have the best teachers in Michigan, but we as a district can do more to support them. Niche.com reports our district reading proficiency is 57% and math proficiency is 48%. Let's allocate more resources and focus our attention to helping our educators improve academic rigor and increase student proficiency in core subjects. FAMILY INVOLVEMENT
Our school district's family oriented programs over the last few years have been a great step forward. Let's continue with programs for family involvement in schools and encourage more interaction from parents with our teachers and administrators. Positive behavior reinforcement at home and school can build our students' self-worth. It is large and very diverse in terms of ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds. But it is fantastic. We have great neighbors that treat each other respectfully and have a shared sense of community pride. Our differences do not define us. Our town values hard work, intellect, and persistence. We have great parks, stores, and restaurants. We feel safe in our neighborhoods. Our school district should emphasize commonalities and shared goals. We are West Bloomfielders first and foremost. This is our home. Divisive programs and agendas should be removed as they distract and will lead to conflict, degrading our community. Let's continue our upward trajectory with positivity and unity. Our school district must be depoliticized. Politics are too divisive and too much of a distraction. Our focus must be on education since it is the very reason for the district's existence. Let's keep our schools and administrative offices politics free. OPEN SCHOOLS
School closure and hybrid school hours hurt educational, social, and emotional development across all ages. We need to make sure that our kids stay in school full time moving forward. HEALTH CHOICE FREEDOM RE VAX
We must oppose any mandates for the COVID vaccine on our students, teachers, or staff. Clinical trials for the mRNA COVID vaccines available for children do not show improved health outcomes for the vaccinated cohort. The available vaccines also do not stop transmission. We still do not know the long term effects the mRNA vaccine and spike proteins may have on developing bodies. HEALTH CHOICE FREEDOM RE MASKS
We must oppose any future mask mandates. Research studies continue to show no significant relationship between mask mandates and case rates. Leading epidemiologists - Martin Kulldorff of Harvard, Jay Bhattacharya of Stanford, and Sunetra Gupta of Oxford to name a few - have been in strong opposition to masking healthy individuals over the last two years.
