Today the State Democratic Executive Committee, SDEC, convened in Montgomery with the primary goals of filling vacancies, selecting representatives for the NDC, and several amendments to the bylaws. The meeting was slated to begin at 9:30 and was called to order at approximately 10:30. Your district 49 and congressional district 6 representatives were in attendance.
There were immediate motions made to alter the agenda and the regulations of the time and number of speakers. Posted district at large seats were filled for several counties. The Youth Caucus sat 6 new members and the Hispanic Caucus sat 1 new member. There were two men and one woman elected to represent Alabama at the national level. The representatives are Charlie Staten, Joe M Reed, and Donna Foster. These meetings are open to all Democrats.
