A heartfelt thank you to the outstanding men and women of the Berlin Township Police Department. Thank you for proudly wearing the badge every day, for your unwavering commitment to public safety, and for your genuine dedication to our community.
We appreciate you, today and every day.

National Day of Prayer

Last night’s National Day of Prayer gathering at Wesley United Methodist Church was truly uplifting. So many churches from across the area came together in unity, a powerful reminder that we’re stronger when we stand side by side.
More than ever, with the challenges facing our country and the world right now, we need prayer. Prayer for wisdom, for protection, for unity, and for a better tomorrow.
We’re so grateful to be part of the Berlin Township community. The 2026 National Day of Prayer theme, Hope, Healing, and Renewal, felt especially meaningful as we lifted up our families, our first responders, and our nation.

It was wonderful seeing so many familiar faces. A big thank you to the brave men and women who serve us every day, Police Chief Michael FitzGibbon, Lieutenant David Childs, Lieutenant Colin Kelboult, and the two patrol officers, Deena Naimoli and Ryan Kennedy joined us, along with Council President Frank Epifanio and Councilman Mark Reed and his wife. We also appreciated the strong showing from the West Berlin Fire Department and Berlin Ambulance. Your presence meant a lot.

Thank you, Wesley United Methodist Church and to every church and individual who showed up. Let’s carry the spirit of hope, healing, and renewal with us every day.

Finally, we had some beautiful weather, and the kids made the most of it! It was so much fun watching them out on the field, laughing, swinging, and chasing those balls with big smiles. I love seeing them build not just skills and experience, but real confidence with every practice.

A huge thank you to our dedicated coaches, Danielle, Gianni, and Dawn, and my helper Owen, for leading the kids with such energy and patience today. We’re so lucky to have you!

A huge thank you to all the parents and guardians for your continued support of our youth sports programs. And a special shout-out to everyone who jumped in to help with the kids today, you made it all run smoothly!

Can’t wait to see everyone back out there next week.

Sorry, won’t let me add video and pictures!

FIRE ON HADDON AVENUE

This afternoon, a tracker trailer truck fire, broke out on Haddon Avenue, with flames quickly spreading to the overhead wires. I’m extremely proud of the exceptional work by our West Berlin Fire Department. Their quick response, professionalism, and expertise were truly amazing. From the moment they arrived, they took control of the situation and had the fire out in an impressively short time. Their skill and quick thinking prevented what could have been a far more dangerous incident.

We were fortunate that this fire occurred directly across the street from the fire station. The driver was safely out of the vehicle with no injuries, and thanks to the Fire Department’s fast action, we avoided a potential explosion that could have damaged nearby homes.

I also want to thank our Berlin Township Police Department for jumping in immediately to assist and help secure the scene. Their support was greatly appreciated. A special thank you as well to all the neighboring towns that provided mutual aid, both fire and police personnel, to support our local departments during this emergency.

To the dedicated men and women of the West Berlin Fire Department, thank you for your outstanding service, your bravery, and your commitment to keeping Berlin Township safe. You continue to make us all proud.

Thank you again to everyone involved, our local first responders truly are the best.

Solicitor Safety Post

Dear Residents,

We have received reports of door-to-door solicitors in the area. Please remember that legitimate solicitors are required to carry proper identification and possess a permit issued through the township.

If someone comes to your door:

Ask to see their solicitor permit and identification.

Do not provide personal, financial, or account information.

Do not feel pressured to make an immediate decision.

You may choose not to answer the door.

If you have a “No Soliciting” sign posted, solicitors should respect it.

If the person refuses to leave, becomes aggressive, or makes you feel unsafe, contact police immediately.

Please note that only approved solicitors are provided with the “No Knock” list. Solicitors who have not followed the proper approval process will not have access to that information.

Your safety is our priority. If something seems suspicious or a solicitor is not following the rules, trust your instincts and contact police. Most jurisdictions have similar solicitor requirements, and reporting violations helps us address the issue.

Please call police immediately if you learn that a solicitor does not have a permit.

Thank you for helping us keep our community safe.

Take Your Child to Work Day in Berlin Township!

What an exciting day we had! Our children and grandchildren got a full behind the scenes look at how Berlin Township government and public safety work.

The day started off at the Public Works Department. The kids received a full tour of the PWD yard, enjoyed exciting rides in several trucks and pieces of equipment, and learned just how important recycling and proper waste management are to keeping Berlin Township clean and green. They even enjoyed a delicious lunch.

From there, everyone headed over to the Berlin Township Police Department. The officers gave the children a fun and informative tour of the station. The highlight for many? Sitting in the patrol cars and getting to activate those loud sirens, they really enjoyed that!

The day wrapped up at the municipal court with myself, Prosecutor Donna Platt, and Judge N. Ryan Trabosh. The kids got to see the courtroom, ask questions about how our local justice system works, and learn about the important role it plays in our community every single day.

Events like this are so valuable, they help our kids see what their local government does every day to keep our township running safely and efficiently.

A big thank you to every member of our Public Works, Police, Court and administration, who took time out of their busy schedules to make this day so special and memorable for our children. You all did an outstanding job!
We can’t wait to do it again next year!

Berlin Township Community Earth Day!

Even though it rained and the weather was pretty nasty today, nothing could stop our dedicated volunteers from showing up for Community Earth Day in Berlin Township!

We tackled a full beautification project at Spruce Avenue Park, organized by our Public Works Department under the great direction of Gianni and Andy. Huge thanks to the Berlin Township Schools National Honor Society students, Mrs. Bissic and all the community members who came out to help.

They picked up trash, laid mulch, planted flowers, and gave the whole park a thorough cleanup. In true spirit, they really “spruced up Spruce”!

Together, we collected close to 400 pounds of trash, what an accomplishment!

A huge thank you also goes out to our generous sponsors: Shoprite, Taco Bell, DiMeglio Septic, and Angelo’s Pizza, your support made the day possible and kept everyone fueled!

I’m so proud of these kids. Not only did they work hard, but they were incredibly respectful, to me, to the township staff, and to each other. That really meant the most to me. Great job, parents, you raised some wonderful young people!

Thank you to everyone who participated. Our community is better (and more beautiful) because of days like this.

Honoring Our Local Heroes in Public Safety Communications!

This week at our Council meeting, Berlin Township proudly recognized National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 12–18, 2026).

We wanted to shine a light on the dedicated men and women who serve as the first, first responders, answering 9-1-1 calls, calmly gathering critical information, and dispatching police, fire, and EMS to keep our communities safe 24/7.

We also did a special recognition and appreciation award for Lou DeMarco, a Berlin Township resident for many years!
Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to Lieutenant Lou DeMarco of Camden County Communications! After 33 years of outstanding service, including being the last remaining member of the original 1993 9-1-1 team, Lou is retiring this summer. Thank you, Lou, for your decades of professionalism, dedication, and commitment to public safety. We wish you and your family all the best in your well-deserved retirement!

As Mayor of Berlin Township, I would like to encourage all residents to take a moment to appreciate these unsung heroes behind the scenes who play a vital role in every emergency response.
