Mental Health Awareness Month may be coming to a close, but this work continues every day.

At RiseWell Community Services, we see firsthand how access to care, support, and connection can change lives.

This month is an important reminder that mental health is health and no one should have to navigate it alone.

Through our programs across Long Island and NYC including mental and behavioral health, substance use treatment, and supportive housing we remain committed to expanding access, promoting recovery, and meeting people where they are with compassion and respect.

We're breaking ground, but really, we are doing something way bigger.

The future Anthony Angelo Health Clinic & Wyandanch Youth Center will bring care, connection, and opportunity under one roof. Named for our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Anthony Angelo, MD, this space reflects the compassion and commitment he’s brought to our community for decades.

This new center will expand access to integrated health services including behavioral and mental health, substance use treatment, primary care coordination, and youth programming, all in an intentionally designed 8,000 square foot building we're excited to call home in the next year.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared beautiful remarks, especially NYS DOH Associate Commissioner Celeste Johnson, our partners, community leaders, and wonderful clinical team for helping mark this moment.

March is National Nutrition Month! And Nutrition is Power!

Making healthier choices isn’t just a starting point for nourishing your physical body, but a proven way to support your mind, boost your spirit, and strengthen your connection to community. “Well-balanced” doesn’t always mean restriction; “portion-control” may just mean using a smaller pasta bowl, hydration is key, and it’s always a good idea to add avocado.

A moment worth celebrating! 🎉

We are proud to share that one of our residents at Herkimer Gardens, located in Brooklyn, recently achieved an incredible milestone—becoming a United States citizen after successfully passing his naturalization exam.

At 68 years old, originally from Cameroon, and after overcoming many life challenges, including a history of homelessness and managing several health conditions, his determination and resilience truly shine.

He shares that he felt well prepared for the exam thanks to the study materials and support provided by his Case Manager, along with the time he dedicated to practicing questions.

Additionally, our staff all celebrated together with a well-deserved sweet treat, a cupcake, and heartfelt congratulations!

Stories like his remind us that with perseverance, support, and community, incredible achievements are possible at any stage of life.

Happy AmeriCorps Week!

This week, we join organizations across the country in celebrating the incredible impact of AmeriCorps members, volunteers, and partners who strengthen communities every day. From mentoring students and supporting older adults to expanding access to essential services, national service continues to make a meaningful difference throughout New York and beyond.

As we celebrate, we are especially grateful for the dedication of our Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion volunteers, whose compassion and commitment uplift children and older adults across Suffolk County.

Love was in the air at RiseWell ❤️

Our Drop-In Programs in Copiague and Patchogue celebrated Valentine’s Day with sweet treats, creative activities, and meaningful moments of connection. From crafts to conversations, it was an evening filled with laughter, support, and community.

Our Drop-In After-Hours Social Program offers adults with mental illness a safe, peer-supported space to unwind, connect, and celebrate life through fun and creativity.

At RiseWell, holidays are more than celebrations; they’re opportunities to remind our participants that they are valued, appreciated, and never alone.
