Growing Fire Sprinkler Company seeks Mechanics for immediate hire. With over 50 years in business, we are currently looking to add competent and responsible individuals to our expanding workforce. We look to provide employees with the opportunity to succeed and create a working environment which promotes low turn-over and opportunities for advancement. Work is performed in the 5 boroughs of New York City, Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk), and other areas in the region as needed.
Applicants should have a working knowledge and experience with:
- Reading plans and installing in accordance with engineered designs
- Threading and installing threaded pipe
- Grooving pipe and installing mechanical fittings
- Field fit-up including measuring, cutting, and installing precise mechanical systems
- Installation and start-up of fire pumps as part of a sprinkler system
- Pipe risers, Siamese, and Control Valve lay-out and installation
- Job site maintenance, including mobilization, de-mobilization, maintaining a clean work site and following proper procedures
- OSHA Safety Standards (OSHA 10 required, 40 hours total required by December 31, 2018)
Successful applicants should also possess:
- The ability to identify deviations from a plan and the need for change orders
- A sense of responsibility required to review work and execute on a timeline
- The ability and/or experience supervising other workers (helpers) on a jobsite
- The understanding of field conditions and how they impact the ability to work
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
- An understanding of piping systems, particularly fire sprinkler systems (i.e. dry vs. wet systems, pre-action, etc.)
- Exceptional candidate will have knowledge of fire sprinkler systems and experience installing like kind systems
- Familiarity with NFPA codification and requirements is favorable but not required
Mechanics are classified in various levels based upon experience and capability; we ask that experienced mechanics of all levels apply.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and capability. Clean driver’s license preferred.
Position is hourly, based upon union agreement wages plus the opportunity to work on prevailing wage projects as well. This position is based on a regular 40 hour work week, with an opportunity for overtime as it arises.
