Today, we’re sharing a video that highlights a growing concern on our roads: electric mobility devices—like e bikes, scooters, electric unicycles, and electric moto or dirt bikes—failing to follow basic traffic laws.

In this clip, you’ll see an electric unicyclist disregard a red light and commit several other violations. While these devices offer fun, convenient ways to get around, they’re still required to follow the same traffic laws as everyone else. These rules exist for one reason: 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞.

As we move into October, 𝐖𝐀𝐏𝐃 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 to help reduce risky behavior by riders and improve safety for our entire community. Later this week, we’ll also be sharing an information focused graphic to break down what riders need to know—simple guidelines that help prevent crashes and keep our streets safer.

Take a moment to watch the video, share it with others, and help us spread the message: 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥. 𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝—𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of retired K9 KC, who passed away on 9/16/2026 following medical complications.

KC was far more than a police K9. He was a partner, protector, teammate, and beloved member of the West Allis Police Department family.

From his arrival from Hungary in 2019 through his distinguished career alongside Cpl. Sayeg, KC served our community with incredible courage, loyalty, and dedication. He was deployed 369 times, resulting in 188 arrests, and his work helped keep countless officers and community members safe.

But those who knew KC will remember more than his impressive accomplishments. They’ll remember the gentle giant who loved children, belly rubs, community events, and simply being around people. He had a remarkable ability to go from playful companion to highly focused police K9 in an instant.

KC retired last year on 10/23/2025 after giving everything he had to his partner, his department, and his community. He leaves behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.

Rest easy, KC. Thank you for your service, your courage, your loyalty, and the countless lives you touched along the way. You will always be a part of the West Allis Police Department family.
