Summer is almost here, and with it comes more time outdoors swimming, riding, climbing and playing!

World Against Toys Causing Harm, Inc. (W.A.T.C.H.) recently released the 2026 Summer Safety Report, highlighting "10 Summer Safety Traps" families should watch for this season. The list includes everyday products like inflatable pool toys, overheated playground equipment, e-bikes, ATVs and hidden water hazards. These are products that may seem harmless but have recently been linked to child injuries and are often overlooked or hidden in plain sight.

A great reminder to take a quick look around backyards, pools and play spaces before the summer fun begins!

A new summer safety report flags 10 hazards parents should know about, from pool floats and hot slides to water beads, e-bikes and above-ground pools.

Summer is almost here, but asthma doesn't take a vacation!

If you or your child has asthma, it's important to keep taking medications as prescribed. Even when symptoms feel under control. Skipping or stopping medication can increase the risk of an asthma attack, and summer triggers like heat, humidity and outdoor allergens can make things worse when you least expect it.

Stay consistent, stay safe and enjoy your summer! Learn more at https://ow.ly/l1TS50Z8lsQ.

Our Executive Director Matt Crespin, MPH, RDH, FADHA just returned from Denver, where he shared Wisconsin's oral health story at the National Conference of State Legislatures State Policy Collaborative on Maternal and Child Health!

He was joined by teams from Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota and Oregon. All gathered to talk about what's working in their states and how to build better systems of care for families, including the critical role oral health plays in overall wellbeing. Matt brought Wisconsin's experience to the table, sharing what we've learned and the progress we're proud of.

It's always meaningful to be in a room full of people who care deeply about the same things we do. Want to learn more about our oral health work here in Wisconsin? Visit chawisconsin.org/initiatives/oral-health.

Two Alliance teammates, and a representative from the Wisconsin Child Death Review State Advisory Council, recently made the trip to Kansas City, MO for the National Center for Fatality Review and Prevention's Regional Coordinators Meeting!

It was a great opportunity to connect with coordinators from across the Midwest, share what's working in Wisconsin and learn about the latest updates happening at the national level. The kind of collaboration that happens in rooms like this is exactly what moves the needle for kids and families.

Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day. 🧡

Gun violence is one of the leading causes of death among children and teens in the United States. Today we're wearing orange to show up for the kids and families we serve every day.

Awareness is the first step. Talking about it, learning about it and taking action in our communities is how we move forward together.

Learn more about our injury prevention work and the resources we have available for Wisconsin families at chawisconsin.org/initiatives/injury-prevention-death-review.

Heads up, Milwaukee! Air quality is in the orange zone today and tomorrow. Here's what you need to know to stay safe.

Summer heat traps pollutants and creates ozone, a gas that can make it harder to breathe, especially for kids, older adults and anyone living with asthma.

What can you do to breathe easy?
☀️Move outdoor activities to the morning when it's cooler.
☀️Save intense exercise for another day.
☀️When in doubt, move the fun indoors!

Visit https://airquality.wi.gov/ to keep learning and make it a habit to check air quality every time you check the weather!

The Alliance's Executive Director Matt Crespin, MPH, RDH, FADHA recently had the chance to attend and present at the American Dental Hygienists' Association Integrated Care Summit 2026: Bridging the Gaps to Whole-Person Care in Broomfield, Colorado!

He was joined by Constance Gundacker, MD, MPH, our partner from the Medical College of Wisconsin, who also brought her expertise to the conversation around integrating oral health and medical care.

The event brought together oral health and medical professionals from across the country for two days of learning and connection around what it takes to care for the whole person. From hands-on workshops to sessions on bridging dental and medical care in practical, meaningful ways, it was a powerful reminder that when health care works together, everyone benefits.

At the Alliance, this is work we're deeply committed to right here in Wisconsin. Curious about how we're advancing oral health integration for kids and families? Learn more at chawisconsin.org/initiatives/oral-health.
