🚨 Florida Notaries: Do you really know what counts as acceptable identification?

Under Florida Statute §117.05(5)(b)(2), a notary may reasonably rely on certain forms of identification when the ID is current OR was issued within the past 5 years and includes a serial or other identifying number. (Online Sunshine)

A few important reminders:

✅ Florida driver licenses and ID cards are included
✅ U.S. passports are included
✅ Certain IDs from other states, U.S. territories, Canada, Mexico, the military, VA, immigration authorities, and correctional institutions may also qualify
⚠️ “Issued within the past 5 years” does NOT mean “expired within the last 5 years.” The issue date matters.

Save this post for reference and always check the current statute when you are unsure.

🎬 Hollywood, here I come! NNA Conference 2027! 🎤

🚨 SAFE SIGNINGS: Safety Awareness for Every Signing

Every signing begins with trust, but trust should NEVER replace preparation!

As notaries, we often travel alone, meet strangers, and enter unfamiliar environments. Your safety should never be an afterthought!

I’m bringing my SAFE Method to the NNA Conference in Hollywood, California, May 23–25, 2027!

🛡️ S — Screen the Appointment
🛡️ A — Assess the Environment
🛡️ F — Follow Professional Boundaries
🛡️ E — Exit Safely

We’re talking practical, real-world safety strategies to help you protect yourself BEFORE, DURING, and AFTER every appointment.

Because at the end of the day, your stamp can be replaced. Your journal can be replaced. YOU CANNOT!

Whether you’re brand new or have been navigating these Notary Streets for decades, this session is for YOU!

🎟️ Who’s joining me in Hollywood? 🎬
