Weslaco ISD will be closed this Friday, September 4th (Weather Day) and Monday, September 7th (Labor Day).

We hope everyone enjoys the four-day weekend and returns well-rested! Upon our return, students will be taking the MAP Growth test, so this extra time off will be the perfect opportunity to recharge and get ready to do their best.

Come to school EVERY DAY, ALL DAY, and ON TIME! Students who earn 100% PERFECT ATTENDANCE for the first 6 weeks will be rewarded with a YUMMY SHAVED ICE! 🌈🍧

And there’s even more to celebrate! If Silva Elementary reaches 97% attendance as a campus, EVERYONE gets a RASPA! 🎉

🌟 Attention Silva Families! 🌟

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is a special dress-up day, and students have two awesome options to show their spirit and support!

🎗️ Option 1: Go Gold!
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. We invite everyone to wear gold or yellow tomorrow (and every Wednesday this month) to stand together and show our support for this important cause! 💛

👟 Option 2: Athletic Gear!
Students can wear their favorite athletic gear to help cheer on our amazing 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders as they tackle the P.E. Pacer Test! Let’s get them pumped up and ready to run! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Calling all Silva Families! 📚📸 We are getting ready to celebrate National Read a Book Day on Sunday, September 6, and we want to see our amazing students in action!

Please send us pictures of your children reading at home so we can feature them on our page.

📅 Submission Deadline: Friday, September 4

Reading just 20 minutes daily exposes children to 1.8 million words per year. Research shows this simple habit builds an expansive vocabulary and strengthens reading comprehension skills. In fact, students who consistently read for 20 minutes a day often score in the 90th percentile on standardized tests, making it one of the most powerful tools for lifelong academic success.

Our breakfast and lunch menus for the month are officially here! Check out the attached menus for both Pre-K and K-5 students to see all the tasty and nutritious meals we have planned to keep our students fueled and ready to learn.

⏰ Friendly Reminder: We also serve supper daily from 3:45 PM to 4:15 PM!
