The LRGV Academy is getting ready for our 2026 RGV K9 Competition. This year our event will be hosted at Alton Parks and Recreation Center on December 5th! We are inviting all businesses, organizations, market vendors, and food vendors to participate in our event and support our cause!

Join us and showcase your business, products, talents and food! This'll be a perfect opportunity to connect with the community, build relationship with residents and law enforcement personnel!

🚨🚨🚨 Training & Event Announcement 🚨🚨🚨

Canine Handlers, Mount Up!!!

The LRGV Academy, in partnership with the Alton Police Department, will be hosting the 2026 RGV K9 Training Seminar and Competition December 3rd - 5th. Our Objective?! To provide a comprehensive range of specialized training to officers within our region and the State of Texas. Certify our Canine Handlers and provide handlers with skills to help combat illicit activity within our community!

A Two-Day training seminar will focus on our popular topics like, Fentanyl Detection (w/training aids), Narcotic Detection, Explosive Detection, Apprehension and Tracking, Masking Odors, Problem Solving, cadaver detection (upon request) ......THE LIST GOES ON!!!! Canine Teams will be competing on December 5th at the Alton Parks and Recreation Center. Full-Time Law Enforcement Officers assigned to a Canine Unit are welcome to Compete. Its FREE!!!!

Congratulations Class 232! Today we celebrate the accomplishment of these brave men and women as they have earned their title of Texas Peace Officer.

We thank the Mission Police Department and the City of Mission - Government for another great collaboration. The Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council is proud to see these new officers step into their new roles as community protectors and professionals.
