Everyone’s favorite question once the weather turns nice is, “Am I allowed to have a fire in my backyard?”

The short answer is it depends on where you live, and what you are using to contain the fire.

The best answers come from your municipality’s burning ordinance. We have put links below so you can find the right answer for where you live.

Alburtis Borough – (scroll down after document opens)https://www.alburtis.org/codifiedord/pdf/ch%2035-art%204.pdf

Macungie Borough – https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/macungieborpa/latest/macungieborpa/chapter_141%3A__burning__outdoor

Lower Macungie Township – https://ecode360.com/31021715 #31021743

No matter where you reside, be mindful of your surroundings. Stay a safe distance from structures and power lines. Follow best practices for a safe fire and have a means of extinguishing the fire readily available. Avoid fires where there are dry conditions that could lead to your fire spreading. Follow your municipality’s requirements. Never burn when the municipalities or the county publishes information about burn bans.

For more safety tips for fire pits and outdoor fires you can visit the National Fire Protection Association NFPA tips are not a substitute for your municipalities ordinance on burning.
