ST LOUIS DOWNTOWN SAFETY: STL PROSECUTOR GABE GORE TELLS JUDGE MIKE CARTER ZERO HOMICIDES
Crime is down downtown this year. According to today’s discussion, there have been zero homicides in the defined downtown district so far—a meaningful step forward.

Gabe Gore explains that he spends nearly twelve hours downtown each day working, exercising, and socializing, and feels safe doing so. The same is true for the 145 people working in his office.

Judge Mike Carter also addresses the reality that while the data shows improvement, there remains a perception gap—particularly among county residents who may not spend as much time downtown.

This video breaks down the facts, the lived experience, and why perception still matters in the broader conversation about downtown safety.

RECA: PAYMENTS START AT $50K — BUT DOCUMENTED MEDICAL BILLS CAN REACH $300K OR MORE 💵

Key Takeaways:
• RECA provides a minimum $50,000 payment for eligible conditions.
• BUT — if you can prove out-of-pocket medical expenses above $50,000, you can be compensated up to $300,000 (or more if proven) 🏥.
• Qualifying illnesses include leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, while others like lupus do not qualify ❌.
• Don’t worry if you can’t find every old bill — diaries, notes, and alternative documentation may count as proof 📖.
• Advocacy matters: knowing the rules and pressing your case can make a big difference 🗣️.

👉 Bottom line: The cap isn’t always $50,000 — with proper documentation, compensation can go much higher.

🚨 MISSOURI STATE FAIR – ONLY A DAY OR TWO LEFT! 🚨

Drone footage from when we were there earlier this week! We had an absolute blast — starting with a close-up of smiling riders on the Ferris wheel, soaring over the BIG barn-like grand entrance, gliding across the fairgrounds toward the Ferris wheel, and catching the energy at the grandstands where the music fills the air. 🎶🎡

We visited on a Thursday around 2 PM, so it wasn’t too crowded… but this weekend? You can bet it’ll be bustling with fun, food, rides, and music.

Get on down to the Missouri State Fair before it’s over!

JUDGE MIKE CARTER AND LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY'S PROFESSOR JAMES HUTSON DISCUSS HOW AI IS RESHAPING THE JOB MARKET

Will artificial intelligence take your job? The answer is complex, and it might not be what you think.

In a recent segment, Judge Mike Carter sat down with Professor James Hutson of Lindenwood University to discuss the evolving landscape of employment in the age of AI. They explored how AI is already reshaping entry-level positions and driving automation in the fast-food industry.

Professor Hutson, a specialist in artificial intelligence, explained that while some professions are expected to be automated, the more immediate impact is seen in how certain jobs are changing. He points to the fast-food sector, where mobile apps and automated systems are becoming standard, as a prime example of this shift. The conversation also touched on the future of white-collar jobs, with accounting being one of the professions predicted to see significant automation.

This insightful discussion highlights the ongoing transformation of our workforce due to technological advancements.

THE "NUCLEAR OPTION" IN THE MISSOURI SENATE: WHAT IS THE ‘PREVIOUS QUESTION’?
Justice & Journalism with Judge Mike Carter

In this powerful preview from "Justice in Journalism," Missouri State Senator Adam Schnelting (R-St. Charles) explains to Judge Michael Carter why using the "Previous Question" is a necessary and bold move to get things done for the people of Missouri.

But what exactly is the “Previous Question” (PQ)?

It’s a high-stakes parliamentary procedure used to end a filibuster and force a vote. When a bill is being intentionally stalled by endless debate (a filibuster), a motion for the "Previous Question" can be made. If it gains enough support—18 votes in the Missouri Senate, as Schnelting points out—it immediately shuts down all debate and forces an immediate up-or-down vote on the main issue.

It’s often called the "nuclear option" because it's a raw exercise of majority power that ends the long-standing tradition of unlimited debate. However, as Senator Schnelting argues, a filibuster designed to shut down the chamber is also a "nuclear option," and sometimes it’s the only tool available to break the gridlock and deliver on promises made to constituents.

Hear the full, in-depth discussion on legislative strategy, political backbone, and breaking through filibusters on this weekend's episode!

🚨 JUDGE MIKE CARTER: WENTZVILLE STUDENTS COULD FACE CRIMINAL CHARGES FOR SCHOOL FIGHTS 🚓📚
Justice & Journalism with Judge Mike Carter
The Wentzville School District has adopted a controversial update to its student code of conduct: any assault at school by grades 6–12 students will trigger peace disturbance charges and 5–10 days out-of-school suspension — even first-time offenses. Elementary students could also be charged.

🧾 Assault = any physical attack, provoked or not.

Though the district says charges “will be filed”, they now admit it’s under review and not necessarily automatic. Critics say the policy leans hard into “zero tolerance” discipline and risks pushing kids into the criminal system — a major concern for advocates battling the school-to-prison pipeline.

👮‍♂️ Police officers (SROs) are already stationed in Wentzville schools and would make the final call.

The new policy, approved June 18, is stirring statewide debate.

Is this accountability — or criminalization?

🎥 JUDGE MIKE CARTER LISTENS AS ELLIOTT DAVIS IS OVERCOME WITH EMOTION RECOUNTING THE DAY HIS CAMERAMAN WAS SHOT Justice & Journalism with Judge Mike Carter

This is one of the most powerful and vulnerable moments ever captured from legendary journalist Elliott Davis.

In a gripping interview, Judge Mike Carter asks Davis about the hardest moments of his career. What follows is chilling.

Davis recalls a 2004 investigation into a corrupt towing company tied to a drug gang—so dangerous, he says, they put a contract out on his life.

While filming on location, Davis heard what sounded like distant “pops.” Moments later, his cameraman Larry Washington walked up and quietly said, “I’m shot.”

The emotion hits Davis hard. He pauses. Struggles. And the trauma of that day floods back in real time.

This is a raw, unfiltered reminder of the danger brave journalists face to bring truth to light.
