Get all department updates during our system-wide failure at Chelan County Government. Just a reminder, we are not receiving emails, telephone calls or documents at this time.

Because of our ongoing system-wide failure here at the county, Public Works is cancelling, until further notice, a call for RFQs (requests for qualifications) for the Burch Mountain Storm Drain Condition Assessment.

A project of the Chelan County Surface and Stormwater Management Utility, the assessment of the storm drain will be readvertised when our computers, phones and email are back up and running. We apologize for the inconvenience.

THIS WEEK: The Cashmere crew is ditching on Stine Hill Road, from Cashmere to Dryden. Watch for one-lane, flagger-controlled traffic in the work zone. Plan for minor traffic delays.

In the Chelan District, crews are grading North Butte Road. They are also brushing and repairing potholes across the district.

Wenatchee crews are repairing potholes across the district. And the Cashmere crew is also repairing potholes and cutting brush throughout that district.

Sorry, everyone. We don't yet have a timeline on when systems will be back up. If you need to speak to someone in the office, come visit us. As for our road crews, they never stop! 💪

As an update to the Memorial Day weekend malware event: Chelan County’s departments and offices will continue to work with some limitations next week as its IT department and forensic specialists work to securely restore affected systems.

We do not yet have a timeline on when systems will be back up and our investigation to determine the nature and scope of the event remains ongoing.

“Offices and departments got creative this week, putting together workarounds so they can be open and serve the public,” said Commissioner Shon Smith, chairman of the Board of County Commissioners. “We are making progress, but our phones, email and other systems will be down next week. We are asking the public to be patient with us at this time and, if you need a county department, visit the office in person so we can assist you.”

If you have business with a Chelan County office, please remember to bring cash or a check for payments. Offices are open; only the Sheriff’s Office counter is closed to the public.

Keep up on specific updates from individual departments on the Chelan County Government page, where updates are posted daily.

ROAD ALERT: West Malaga Road in Malaga, from Golf Course Road to Hamlin Road is closed because of an accident. A power line is across the intersection of West Malaga Road and Shaw Road. Avoid the area until a crew is able to remove that line. The closure is expected to be a few hours.

A ban on the outdoor burning of yard waste starts June 1 in the unincorporated, lower elevation areas of Chelan County. (Called the Valley Zone.) If you see one of these signs with the June 1 date, that's the area impacted.

Remember, fireworks are banned!

Chelan County’s networks have been hacked by malware. This impacts all departments within Chelan County government. As a precaution, we have shut down our network, computers and telephone system across all departments. Our IT department is working closely with our security partners to bring the system back up; however, we have no timeline on when this will happen.

The malware was detected at about 10 a.m. this morning by Chelan County IT. At this time, we do not know the extent or the full scope of the damage. Because offices are closed on Monday, we expect to have an update for you on Tuesday.

If you have an emergency, you can call Rivercom 911. This problem should not slow down responses to calls by the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office. Everbridge notifications are still active but may have slight delays because we will be going through a third party.

If you have critical business with one of our departments, please come in and speak with someone in that department during our regular hours.
