Work on the Fleet Fuel Upgrade Project kicked off in August, and the project is taking shape. Most of the excavation, stormwater improvements, and grading are being finalized, while the footings for the new fuel tank and dispenser have been formed.

The project will increase fueling capacity for the Port’s fleet of vehicles and ground equipment—including snow removal and maintenance equipment—and add monitoring upgrades to our aviation fueling system. These improvements will provide more accurate fuel inventory tracking and better oversight of our fueling operations.

Investing in the infrastructure and equipment that keep Pangborn operating safely and efficiently is an important part of the Port’s strategic commitment to maintaining our assets, improving operational efficiency, and being responsible stewards of public resources.

Where will you go?

From North Central Washington to Los Angeles in the same afternoon.

With new nonstop service between Wenatchee and Portland, travelers gain access to 32 connecting destinations departing within three hours of arrival in Portland — including Los Angeles, where passengers can depart Wenatchee at 12:37 p.m. and arrive by 5:06 p.m. with just one connection.

Participating water providers explained that data center projects have funded significant infrastructure improvements throughout the region.

These investments include new wells, reservoirs, transmission mains, pump stations, and other improvements that expand capacity, improve reliability, strengthen fire protection, and support future residential, commercial, and industrial growth.

We’re grateful to The Landing Café & BBQ for being part of the Pangborn Memorial Airport community over the past two and a half years.

Louis, Kelley, and Cassidy created a welcoming spot for airport employees, travelers, and community members alike, and we appreciate the time, care, and great food they brought to the terminal. We wish them all the best as they begin their next chapter in St. George, Utah.

The Landing Café & BBQ’s final day of service will be Friday, September 25.

Following their departure, the café space inside the Pangborn Memorial Airport commercial terminal will become available for lease. The Regional Port looks forward to finding the next operator to serve travelers, airport employees, and our community from this unique location.

More information about the available space and leasing opportunity will be shared soon.

After 2.5 years of pouring our hearts into The Landing Café & BBQ, and 6 years with R Shack BBQ & Catering, it’s time for us to say goodbye to this chapter. Our last day of service for the Landing Café & BBQ will be Friday, September 25th. From day one, the Wenatchee community, Pangborn airport staff, and our fellow local businesses have shown us so much support, and we’re incredibly grateful we got to feed you. Even with our weekday hours, we built an amazing little hub here — from regulars who planned their lunch around us, loyal customers who grabbed us on DoorDash, to airport staff, and travelers and took our food through security and on their flights. We’re incredibly proud of what we created with this tiny café.

While we’re closing this location, we’re not hanging up the tongs. We’re moving to St. George, Utah, where we own a BBQ grill and supply store, BBQ Pit Stop, and will be rolling out a new food truck, Ember & Vine. If you’re ever in southern Utah, look us up and come say hi. Thank you for letting us be a small part of your flights, your lunches, and your stories. We’ll see you down the road.

A special visitor at Pangborn Memorial Airport!

A C-130 Hercules from the West Virginia Air National Guard stopped at Pangborn while traveling to West Virginia, giving the crew an opportunity to spend a few days exploring the Wenatchee Valley.

Following our quarterly all-staff meeting, Port staff and Commissioner Spurgeon had the opportunity to get an up-close look at the aircraft, marked “U.S. Air Force,” “West Virginia Air Guard” and “Charlie West.”

The C-130 Hercules has been in service since the 1950s and is known for its versatility, transporting personnel and cargo and operating in a wide range of environments. It was a fun opportunity to see this unique aircraft up close!

Yesterday's Chelan Douglas Regional Port Authority Board meeting highlighted several initiatives that are helping position our region for continued economic growth, stronger connectivity, and long-term opportunity.

• Received a presentation from Alaska Airlines on its marketing plan for the new Wenatchee-to-Portland flight, launching October 3. Expanding commercial air service has been a key strategic priority for the Regional Port, and this new route will strengthen connectivity for residents, businesses, and visitors throughout North Central Washington.

• Received an update from Our Valley, Our Future on development of its next five-year regional action plan. The Regional Port helped fund this effort and has historically served as a lead agency in advancing action plan priorities, including development of new industrial and manufacturing space, expanded air service, supporting business resiliency, facilitating small business growth, and spurring downtown Wenatchee revitalization.

• Adopted a supplemental budget to true up the Port’s current financial position and incorporate opportunities and changing priorities that have emerged throughout the year. This allows the organization to remain responsive while maintaining responsible fiscal management.

• Directed staff to resolicit bids for a Port-wide camera project after the two lowest bids were excluded due to technical issues. While this will delay the project, the Board’s decision reflects its commitment to responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources and ensuring the Port receives the best overall value for its investment.

The Board’s work continues to reflect the Regional Port’s strategic priorities: strengthening transportation connections, supporting business growth, investing in infrastructure, and building a resilient regional economy.

Looking ahead, the Board’s next meeting will include an exciting work session focused on Phase II of the Trades District as we continue advancing plans to create additional space and opportunities for businesses to grow in our region.

In observance of Labor Day, the Regional Port administrative offices will be closed on Monday, September 7th.

As many in our community enjoy the holiday, we extend our sincere appreciation to the Airport Operations, ARFF, Maintenance, and other essential staff who will continue serving our region throughout the holiday. Their dedication helps keep Pangborn Memorial Airport operating safely and Regional Port facilities running smoothly – regardless of the day on the calendar.

We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Labor Day. Our administrative offices will reopen during regular business hours on Tuesday, September 8.
