Help us congratulate our August Staffulty Member of the Month, Mrs. Lydia Deshotel! ❤️🖤

Mrs. Lydia brings energy, passion, and high expectations to everything she does. She works hard for her students, encourages them to be their best, and makes a positive impact at WHS each and every day. This honor is so well deserved!

As the last Staffulty Member of the Month recipient of the 2025-2026 school year, Mrs. Kull had the special honor of choosing the first recipient for this school year — and she selected Mrs. Lydia! What a meaningful way to kick off another great year of recognizing our amazing staff.

We’d also like to give a big shoutout to Mrs. Rougeau for her fabulous design on this year’s “trophy.” It is such a fun and creative touch for our decades-themed year! 🛼✨

A BIG Greyhound congratulations to our Support Person of the Year — Mr. Red Iguess, better known around WHS as “Paw Red!” ❤️🖤🐾

Paw Red is always willing to lend a helping hand and is one of those people you know you can count on when something needs to be done. He works hard behind the scenes, steps in wherever he is needed, and plays an important role in keeping Welsh High going each day.

We appreciate all that he does for our students, staff, and school.

We are so excited to celebrate this special group of Greyhounds who have been chosen by the Senior class to represent their school on the 2026 Welsh High School Homecoming Court!

Homecoming is all about tradition, school spirit, unforgettable memories, and the people who make WHS such a special place — and we can’t wait to watch these students be part of one of our favorite traditions. ❤️

Congratulations to each of our court members! We hope you soak in every moment and enjoy your time in the spotlight. ✨

🌾❤️ Learning skills that last beyond the classroom!

We love seeing our teachers find creative ways to prepare students for life after high school, and Mrs. Thibodeaux is doing exactly that with her Senior Ag class!

She recently introduced her students to “Dude Food” — a fun, hands-on lesson designed to get students comfortable making simple, hearty, nutritious meals they can prepare on their own after graduation.

Students work together in class to prep the ingredients and get their meal going in the Instant Pot, but the lesson doesn’t stop in the kitchen! They also calculate the cost per serving and compare it to eating out, showing them just how much money they can save by cooking at home. 💰🍽️

As Mrs. Thibodeaux explained, her job as an Ag teacher is not only to introduce students to different career opportunities, but also to help prepare them to be successful in everyday life.

Career skills. Cooking skills. Budgeting skills. Independence. 👏

We are SO thankful for teachers like Mrs. Thibodeaux who find fun and meaningful ways to make learning practical, memorable, and relevant for our students! ❤️🖤🤍

And we have a feeling the Senior Ag class won’t complain about getting to taste-test their lessons either! 😋
