Sunday afternoon the members of the D**e Street Engine Company held a training session at Station 2 on East Hanover Street to help clean the parking lot for the Departments up coming hose test this coming week. Prior to the training, members broke out our homemade under carriage washer to was the underside of the engine. Wellsville 3, and 7 took advantage of the set up to wash the underside of both vehicles.

The training consisted of a few different topics such as hose line operations, nozzle practice, pump operations, driver/operator, water supply, and tanker operations. Wellsville 2 (C. Kellogg) along with Wellsville 7 (Tanker) were utilized for the training. This was great hands on skills for the members currently in the pump operations class, our newer members, and some Junior Firefighters who also came along to assist.

We would like to thank 2nd Assistant Chief Kevin Fleischman’s wife Maranda for making dinner for the crews afterwards. Thank you to the 11 members, and 2 juniors for taking the time out of your Sunday to help.

We would like to thank all veterans who have helped serve to protect our freedom! And thank those who fought 82 years ago on the invasion of Normandy. We have had many who have served, and some served during D-Day, we thank you!

Our thoughts, and prayers are with the Canisteo Fire Department, and Merring Family. May you rest in peace.

First Monday of the month is our Equipment/Truck Check, Company Training, and Company meeting. Everything from the Scott Packs, Masks, fans, saws, ropes, pumps, lights, are gone through, checked, cleaned to make sure they’re ready for use.

After checks were completed, firefighters trained on the different hand tools carried on Wellsville 2, along with the brush fire equipment. Captain Perry, along with Firefighter Lutz reviewed the tools with new members, along with seasoned members. While members were training at our hall, we had four of our members at the Pump Operations class in Alfred Station.

We would like to congratulate three of our own members from the D**e Street Engine Company #2 on completion, and passing of the New York State Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) in Belmont at the Crossroads Center. Congratulations to Firefighters Cassy Kellogg, Arthur (Aj) Kellogg, and Brennen Ridley on your accomplishments. Today Wellsville 2 (A. All three firefighters from today’s class, plus one more are currently in the New York State Pump Operators Course in Alfred Station. We would like to wish them the best of luck as they continue their training and education.
