The Village of Wellsville held a Public Hearing on April 13th, 2026 at 5:30pm opening up any public comment for the 2026-2027 Village Budget. The public comment period will extend through April 27th, 2026 at 5pm. The Budget includes the Fire Budget which is funded by both the Town and Village of Wellsville residents. The Budget vote is scheduled for April 27th, 2026 at 6pm during the Village Board Meeting. The 2026-2027 Budget can be found on the Village website at www.wellsvillevillageny.gov under the Publications or a hard copy can be picked up at the Village Offices located at 23 N. Main Street, Wellsville, NY 14895.

NOTICE TO SELL SURPLUS ASPHALT MILLINGS

The Village of Wellsville has a surplus of asphalt millings from a milling job located at 200 Bolivar Rd. The Village of Wellsville is going to accept sealed bids on the following five separate piles. Each pile will be sold to the highest bidder for that pile.

Pile 1 - 25 Ten-Wheeler Loads
Pile 2 - 11 Ten-Wheeler Loads
Pile 3 - 30 Ten-Wheeler Loads
Pile 4 - 30 Ten-Wheeler Loads
Pile 5 - 10 Ten-Wheeler Loads

All amounts are just an estimate; bids will be lump sum for the pile.

Sealed bids will be received until April 9th 2026 up to 2:00pm, at which time they will be publicly opened.

It shall be the responsibility of the successful bidder to supply a loader and trucks to remove the pile. Millings must be removed from the site within 30 days after the payment has cleared and been verified by the Village Treasurer. The Village of Wellsville reserves the right to charge $250 / pile /month for any millings that have not been removed past the 30 days. The village reserves the right to reject any or all bids.

Water Treatment Plant Operator or
Water Treatment Plant Operator Trainee

The Village of Wellsville, Department of Public Works is presently accepting applications for the position of a Water Treatment Plant Operator or Water Treatment Plant Operator Trainee for the Water Treatment Plant. Typical duties involve routine but important work with responsibility during an assigned shift for the efficient and safe operation and maintenance of a Type A water treatment plant equipped with facilities for filtration, coagulation, chlorination, fluoridation, corrosion control and pH adjustment. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Water Plant Supervisor in accordance with established procedure. Does related work as required. Minimum qualifications for Water Treatment Plant Operator are high school graduation or equivalency diploma and:
(a) One year of satisfactory experience as Water Treatment Plant Operator Trainee or;
(b) One year of experience in water treatment plant operations.
Special Requirement: Possession of a Grade IIA Water Treatment Plant Operator’s Certificate under the provision of the NYS Sanitary Code. The qualifications are governed by the Official Compilation of Codes, Rules and Regulations of the State of NY (NYCRR, NYS Department of Health Sanitary Code,
Section 5-4.3.
Minimum qualifications for Water Treatment Plant Operator Trainee are high school graduation or equivalency diploma and:
(a) Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license.

From Jones Memorial Hospital:
At this time, Jones Memorial Hospital can confirm that they have in our care, a male patient who presented in the ED and sustained a self-inflicted gun shot wound. He is currently being treated by our team. At no time did this individual threaten staff or any other patients in the building or on the premises. Chief Tim O'Grady of the Wellsville Police Department and his team will continue this on going investigation but have confirmed that this was an isolated incident. There is no threat to the general public. We will have no further information at this time.

Electrical Lineworker – the Village of Wellsville, Department of Public Works is presently accepting applications to fill a vacancy in the Municipal Electric Division. This position will require working with high voltage electric and will encounter working at considerable heights in possible adverse conditions. The position will also require completion of a 4-year apprentice Lineworker program as set forth by the Municipal Electric Utilities Association and the NYS Department of Labor.

Qualifications – The ideal candidate will possess an Associates Degree from an accredited electrical trade school or three (3) years of equivalent experience in the commercial electric trade, a valid NYS CDL driver’s license, and reside within a fifteen (15) minute drive of the Village of Wellsville.

The Village of Wellsville is currently accepting applications for a Heavy Motor Equipment Operator for a vacancy in the Streets Division of the Public Works Department under general supervision of the Streets Division Supervisor.

Required Skills: Good knowledge and demonstrated skill of the operation and maintenance of the specialized heavy equipment such as loader, crawler, dozer and power shovel, etc. is required. Must possess the ability to make minor repairs; good mechanical skills; ability to follow oral and written instructions; willingness to work outdoors under adverse weather conditions; be reliable and industrious. Candidates must possess the physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience in the operation of such motor equipment as trucks, tractors, etc. and one year of experience in the operation of specialized heavy motor equipment. Candidate must possess the appropriate NYS Commercial Driver’s License.
