The City of Wells provides a full-time police department, volunteer fire department and ambulance, a community pool, a public library, a municipal liquor store, a municipal golf course and a municipally-owned theatre, called the Flame Theatre. Wells is also home to the former Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Depot and Lunchroom, built in 1903, and on the National Register of Historic Places and the Muret N. Leland House, built in 1886, and on the Minnesota Historic Properties List.
